Are 130 miles on a 2001 pt crusier good or bad miles?

Question 1
Are 130 miles on a 2001 pt crusier good or bad miles?...

Answers
1)   130? Yes extremely

130,000 still not bad - Amanda

2)   I'm going to assume you are talking 130,000. Which is almost 15,000 a year. Most leases start at 12,000 miles a year. It is a fine number but without knowing the price it really doesn't matter. - Dominic

3)   130 miles of course yes!, or did you mean 130,000 miles (130k)? thats not bad realy they will keep going! - Jazer

4)   it's like right off the lot. . .
13k is very good and 130,000 is ...ok. you have about 30k miles before you run into problems (that is if the engine was taken good care of)

1,300,000 - if it's drivable, I would take it to Guinness, might be in the books! - Calvin

5)   I would say 130 is bad. At that point it can be assumed the the owner has rolled back his odometer at some point.

130,000 tho is fine but why in hell do you want a pt cruiser? - Joe

6)   PT cruisers are tiny cars with an engine that barely fits in the engine bay. I've worked on a few, and they have overheating problems most of the time. And if it was a rental for hertz, or any other place, you can be sure that anyone that drove it abused the hell out of the car. - Dombrus

Question 2
How do the Chrysler 300's run?...  So, i'm looking for a car, and i really love the way the 300's look, but i also want a car that runs well. any advice?
so, Chryslers arent reliable?

Answers
1)   If you mean runs well as in fast a hemi powered 300 is a fun car. If you mean runs well as reliable it is a Chrysler. - 67Bronco

2)   Chryslers are not known for "running good", especially if it is an older car, if the car is newer and has a warranty, go for it, otherwise, look elsewhere. - eddie b

3)   I owned an 05 300c mechanically it never gave me a problem and actually got surprisingly good gas mileage for a car with a 340 hp v8 in it.I did have issues with the interior and exterior like the cheap plastic visor clips breaking and the chrome bubbling on the door handles.I also had to have the instrument cluster replaced. On the plus side these issues were fixed by Chrysler at no charge to me.No car is perfect nor is there a perfect car manufacturer. - Amy m

4)   They are big cars that run fast and are comfortable. As a mechanic there are few failures that leave you on the side of the road. Some trim issues. Most problems are self inflicted by people trying to modify them. - C-Tech

Question 3
is $1500 a fair price to replace the water pump and timing chain on a 2001 sebring?...  It's a 2.7 Liter V8 engine.

Answers
1)   Absolutely.

Why would it be an "unfair" price? Are they holding a bias or prejudice against you?

If not, the price is whatever the shop decides.

If you don't like it, go elsewhere.

Pretty simple. - Vipassana

2)   You mean V6 right? Sounds like a dealer price to me. High, but if they are guranteeing their work I guess it's acceptable. That yr of Sebring was not their best. Poor reliability, trans, & electrical issues plagued that yr. Get rid of it if you can. - The Eagle Keeper

3)   sounds pretty high, I would call around and get another quote. - Debbie

4)   This is a pretty miserable and aggravating repair to say the least.

Even so, $1500 seems a bit steep. The pump and belt will run about $200 at worse - and $1300 at $75.00 and hour is over 17 hours - and the job shouldn't take an experienced technician over two days to complete. - LeAnne

Question 4
2000 chrysler LHS i just bought at auction. The instrument panel lights will not turn off when the car is off?...  This is killing the battery. Please help.

Answers
1)   Not completely sure if this is the same problem or not, but I had the same issue with my windsheild wipers. The car was off, but they kept going. Turns out it was a problem witht the fuse. This could be the same problem you are experiencing. - Mike

2)   switch on dash or door switch is not showing closed/do overhead lights work?? - ken k

3)   I would pull all of the fuses first ,then put them back in one by one to narrow down the circuit that is causing the lights to stay on .It could be a head light switch ,dimmer for dash lights could be bad, could be head light relay related .
Write down what you find good or bad so you don't end up doing it twice. - dinosaur

4)   pull the fuse for the instrument panel lights... should stop the battery drain. I'd suspect a bad light switch... shorted internally. - jnc623

Question 5
How much will it cost to replace a catalytic converter for a 1997 chrysler sebring?...  I just bought a used 1997 Chrysler Sebring and it failed the smog test. I took it into the mechanic and he said that I need a new catalytic converter. About how much will this cost to fix?

Answers
1)   Two hundred dollars or so. Auto Zone has the converter for $85 and it shouldn't cost more than $100-150 to have it installed. If the mechanic wants more than $300 with him supplying the converter then go to another mechanic. - nogoodloser

2)   at an auto repair shop probably 800$ - tom j

3)   An aftermarket direct fit converter for your car should run around $150 to $300 for the part, plus the labor charges to have it installed.

The factory converter will run anywhere from $400 on up just for the part (some get well over $1000). They'll generally last longer, but I'd go with the aftermarket if I was paying for it.

Best to call a few shops and ask them about the cost for doing it, call regular repair shops as well as muffler shops to see who'll give the best price and warranty. Be sure to ask if warranty covers parts and labor, or just the parts. Then go with the shop that suits you best. - Mark B

4)   Should be around 300 DIY. I would call an exhaust shop that sells direct and see what they get for just the convertor, cash and carry, it'll save you alot. - Michael
