should i buy the 2002 chrysler 300m?

Question 1
should i buy the 2002 chrysler 300m?...  im 17 and its going to be my first car it has 85 thousand miles on it its pretty clean. but i want your feed back what do you think?

Answers
1)   I would say no. Those cars have a long history of both electrical and transmission issues that will eat you alive. 85K miles might seem good, but I would still be cautious of Chrysler's from that era. - The Eagle Keeper

2)   How much money do you have for repair for the first year? Factor in an extra 1k-2k on top of the purchase price of the vehicle...because you're going to use it. - Hank Scorpio

3)   To be fair there is no car that goes without a bad Rep. The truth is that chrysler does make a very nice looking car. But the problem lies that looks are not everything. My answer would be to go out and look toward a more preferred car company. - Patrick P

4)   You should also consider that such a car may be expensive to insure. Check your insurance rates before buying one, for example here - carquotes.sinfree.net - Jimmy

5)   I was in the same position as you and i bought a 1999 Chysler Concorde. It now has over 100k miles and the only thing i ever spent on repairing it was $27 for a hose. Mine has the same transmission as the 300m and the engines are the same except mine is slightly smaller (3.2 v. 3.5). I have had a good experience with my Chrysler so I would recommend it as long as you're getting a good price. - Maxwell Pepper

Question 2
2004 Chrysler Sebring Transmission Fluid Leak. Anybody have this same problem?...  My 2004 chrysler sebring won't go into gear when the car is cold, takes about 15-20 seconds for it to move until the car is warmed up. It only started doing this when temperatures reached 32 degrees and lower, but the fluid level was low and there is trans fluid on the bottom of the pan and there is a little on the bottom of the oil pan too. Anybody else have this problem? If so, what did you do to resolve it? Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Answers
1)   Change the transmission fluid and filter and then it should be okay bec transmission fluid wears out and if it's not had it changed it's well due for it.

Hope that helps and best of luck.By the way Dodge uses a special chemical additive in their transmission fluids so be sure to use the proper most recent factory recommended fluid and filter kit. - helpful bob

2)   Yeah I had this problem I just got a transmission flush and has been fine since. - Patrick P

3)   There are 2 areas which are common for trans fluid leaks. Check your trans cooler lines. They deteriorate over time. Check the trans solenoid pack. The gaskets will leak. - C-Tech

Question 3
Can I put a 318 in a 94 Chrysler LHS?...  I have done a lot of engines Swaps. What I need to know is Does the small block V eight. bolts up to the V six trans and if it doesn't do they make adapters.

Answers
1)   I don't think anything will bolt up. I don't think you will find an adapter either. I also think such a conversion will be very expensive. - badbill1941

2)   No it wont bolt up to your FWD transmission. No there aren't any adapters. No it wont fit even if it did bolt up to your trans somehow. - emiller1998

3)   The V-8 does not bolt up. There is no off the shelf adapter. You will have to make your own. - C-Tech

Question 4
Chrysler Voyager engine shuts while driving......?...  i never had problem with my chrysler voyager...but recently the engine shuts while im driving..is their someone their who could help me..bec. i cant afford to take my car to the garage..
the engine shuts when accelerating...

Answers
1)   sounds like a cam sensor to me. they are not very expensive usually about 30 to 40 bucks. - walshington

2)   If it does it when coming up to stop at junctions or when slowing to a stop it will be the idle air control valve/stepper motor assembly. It may need a clean or may have to be replaced and it sounds like you cannot afford that. - Timbo is here

3)   Do you have an engine maintenance light on after it restarts? If so, you have a code generated by the problem. If not, then it's probably going to be a faulty fuel pump. Fuel pressure and fuel delivery inadequacy won't usually generate a fault code. Faulty sensors do. - Jackolantern
