should i buy the 2002 chrysler 300m?

Question 1
should i buy the 2002 chrysler 300m?...  im 17 and its going to be my first car it has 85 thousand miles on it its pretty clean. but i want your feed back what do you think?

Answers
1)   I would say no. Those cars have a long history of both electrical and transmission issues that will eat you alive. 85K miles might seem good, but I would still be cautious of Chrysler's from that era. - The Eagle Keeper

2)   How much money do you have for repair for the first year? Factor in an extra 1k-2k on top of the purchase price of the vehicle...because you're going to use it. - Hank Scorpio

3)   To be fair there is no car that goes without a bad Rep. The truth is that chrysler does make a very nice looking car. But the problem lies that looks are not everything. My answer would be to go out and look toward a more preferred car company. - Patrick P

4)   You should also consider that such a car may be expensive to insure. Check your insurance rates before buying one, for example here - carquotes.sinfree.net - Jimmy

5)   I was in the same position as you and i bought a 1999 Chysler Concorde. It now has over 100k miles and the only thing i ever spent on repairing it was $27 for a hose. Mine has the same transmission as the 300m and the engines are the same except mine is slightly smaller (3.2 v. 3.5). I have had a good experience with my Chrysler so I would recommend it as long as you're getting a good price. - Maxwell Pepper

Question 3
2004 Chrysler Sebring Transmission Fluid Leak. Anybody have this same problem?...  My 2004 chrysler sebring won't go into gear when the car is cold, takes about 15-20 seconds for it to move until the car is warmed up. It only started doing this when temperatures reached 32 degrees and lower, but the fluid level was low and there is trans fluid on the bottom of the pan and there is a little on the bottom of the oil pan too. Anybody else have this problem? If so, what did you do to resolve it? Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Answers
1)   Change the transmission fluid and filter and then it should be okay bec transmission fluid wears out and if it's not had it changed it's well due for it.

Hope that helps and best of luck.By the way Dodge uses a special chemical additive in their transmission fluids so be sure to use the proper most recent factory recommended fluid and filter kit. - helpful bob

2)   Yeah I had this problem I just got a transmission flush and has been fine since. - Patrick P

3)   There are 2 areas which are common for trans fluid leaks. Check your trans cooler lines. They deteriorate over time. Check the trans solenoid pack. The gaskets will leak. - C-Tech

Answers
1)   Hemmings Motor News is the best resource for finding a Mopar specialist bone yard. There are several of these accross the nation.

But you also need to avail yourself of Mopar specific publications. Mopar Collector's Guide is one of the best since it is full of advertisers and classifieds for all things Chrysler.

Also, see if these guys can help out:

www.wildcatmopars.com - Delamothe

2)   E-bay.com - clark

3)   very limited market for sure - even Mopar specialty yards may not have this

I would try Desert Valley Auto Parts in phoenix - excellent sheet metal (but quite expensive) - roadrunner426440

How do you turn off the auto door locking in a Chrysler Pacifica?...  I hate when the car will just look all the doors. Is there away to turn this off?

Answers
1)   The door locks can be turned off, but it will have to be done using a computer scanner. Any dealer can do this for you in a few minutes. It takes longer to hook up the scanner than it does to adjust the program. - fire4511

2)   fire4511 is correct. However, your owners manual also tells you how to do it with the key fob. It will tell you to press a button on the fob and turn on the ignition switch on to program the auto door locks. - Jackolantern

3)   On my chrysler van, you had to turn the keys in the switch 4 times and then hit the door lock. Check your owners manual, it'll tell you, that's where I found it for mine - witcheypoo
