Where can I buy a new Brake Master cylinder for chrysler Voyager in uk?

Question 1
Where can I buy a new Brake Master cylinder for chrysler Voyager in uk?...  I have a 1998 chrysler voager. I bought the Car second hand 2 years ago and there has been a problem with the brakes Since I got it. I have taken it to different garages countless times and they keep saying that it is different things. I have had nearly every thing to do with the brakes changed and they have been bled countless times and the brakes work for a few days to a week. Then the break pedal goes soft when the engine is on. The break pedal is always hard when engine is off. I last took it to the garage a month ago they changed the claipers and brake pads and did a few other things. When I went to get in car when picked it up from garage the break pedal was still soft. I complained and they took car away and bought it back 10 minutes later and I asume they just bled breaks. It fixed breaks for a couple of days the break pedal went soft again. I think it is the master cylinder. and have asked them to replace but I keep being told its not. I have changed master cylinders on other cars so know what im doing and have some time on my hands in the new year so thought I would change the master cylinder my self. Does it sound like it the master cylinder to you and also where it the best place to buy a master cylinder for a 1998 chrysler voyager in the uk.

any advice would be much appreciated

Thanks in advance

Question 2
How make 94 Chrysler LHS run better?...  It has been stalling while driving it. I put in some Napa BG to clean out the fuel sys and I need to run that a while. But oil light just came on and I just changed the oil. What else can I do to make it run better? I just got the car and has not had maintenance for 50k+ miles. Should I change the spark plugs? What else? I just put in a new thermostat.

Answers
1)   Take it to a local garage and have the computer system scanned for stored codes. Have them check the car out to see what needs to be done. 50K and no maintenance, not good. things are going to start going bad. $$$$$$$$$ out the window unless you are a mechanic and the labor is free. - Bobo

2)   spark plugs. ignition coils if it has any. brakes. all filters. if its carburated you should clean that. - dpelt73

3)   Performance mods are not a very good idea on a vehicle that is nearly 17 years old. You would be just asking for problems.

However there are a few things you could and should do.

First, a good tune up. New plugs. Nothing fancy. Fancy plugs do little to improve a stock engine. Use the same make and type plug originally installed from the factory. Usually platinum plugs. Install a good set of spark plug wires at the same time. Again, nothing fancy but don't go cheap either. The parts store will usually offer a few sets of plug wires with various prices. Select a mid grade set and they will work fine.

TIP: When installing the plugs put a small amount of anti seize compound on the threads. A little goes a long way. Don't get any on the electrodes. This will make them easier to remove in the future. Put a small amount of dielectric grease in the spark plug wire boots. This will help seal out moisture and make them easier to remove in the future.

Change the air filter. Again, nothing fancy. The stock air filter will supply the engine with all the air it will need.

If the car is equipped with a mass airflow sensor clean it with Mass Airflow Sensor cleaner. Don't use anything like carburetor cleaner or you will destroy the sensor turning a $5 repair into a $50+ repair.

It may be a good idea to replace the oxygen sensor(s). These should be replaced from time to time.

Add a can of Sea Foam to the fuel system. This will clean out your fuel injectors. After the first tank of Sea Foam replace your fuel filter. Every couple of tanks of fuel add about 1 ounce of Sea Foam per gallon of fuel. This will keep your fuel system and intake clean.

Spray some Sea Foam Deep Creep into the throttle body while the engine is running until it stalls. Allow the engine to sit for several minutes and restart. This will clean the carbon from your plenum, intake manifold, and around your valves. The engine will be difficult to restart and will most likely smoke for a few minutes. This is normal.

About 50 miles before your next oil change add about 1 ounce of Sea Foam per quart of motor oil. Drive normally. This will help clean sludge deposits from inside your engine. If you oil pressure light starts to come on, immediately change your oil and filter. This would be because the Sea Foam washed enough sludge that it may block your oil filter. However this is an extreme condition and would be unlikely to happen.

With the age of this vehicle I would change the transmission fluid filter and transmission fluid.

Keep a close watch on your tire pressure. Too low tire pressure creates increased rolling resistance. Keeping the tires inflated to the correct pressure will improve performance and fuel economy.

If you can do all of the work yourself you could get buy with doing all of this work for less than $150. At least double this amount if you must pay a mechanic to do the work for you. - Mad Jack

4)   First off, change the oil and filter. This is very important. You need to change the plugs and set the gap after you clean the t-body at the air intake . Spray some kind of carbon cleaner in the throttle body and on the inside and on the ISM idle speed motor. I use a old tooth brush to scrub the inside of the t-body. Clean off the throttle plate(butterfly valve) run the engine after doing this to clear out the cleaner, this should make it idle better - Donny

5)   dont feel bad even the new ones have those problems - ?

How clean heater core 94 lhs?...  I want to clean the heater core but the hoses to that are so buried under stuff I can't get to them. What else can I do? Make quick starts to loosen up the heater core junk? Other ideas to get the junk loose in there?

Answers
1)   It's seem you have too much junk in your trunk.
What you could do is unhook the heater hoses at the other end away from the heater. Flush out the coolant in there. Then add vinegar or CLR not both. Let it sit for a few hours and put the pressure hose to it. You will be amazed the junk that gets out of your trunk. - Donny

2)   watch your step with getting at that "junk"/you get too aggressive and you can end up with water on the floor//take t/stat out/reclose the t/stat housing and then put a can of rad cleaner in the system and water/cover the front of rad with a blanket to get operating temp to normal/run engine at 2000 rpm for a minute at normal temp/drain rad and find the block drain and take that out/remove the t/stat housing (secure drains) and fill the block at the t/stat housing until its full 50/50/ mix/secure new t/stat and fill radiator to top/start engine and run until rad is warm/fill to top and install new cap and drive it around the block/wait awhile and then check rad level and overflow reservoir/top off and do it again around the block/watch temp ga and check for leaks - ken k

3)   there,s another way and that is take the heater hoses off the block and water pump, take a garden hose and flush up into 1 hose and then the other hose. that way you don,t have to remove the hoses off the core. - bandit_60

4)   You have no choice, just take your time.. Or cut the hose then use a reducer, with a metal coupling to connect them after you blow the heater core out with air.. - ?

2004 Chrysler Sebring Driving Vibrations ?!?!?!?...  Ok so here's the problem....My car started to have this weird vibration problem, while driving as i give it a little gas to accelerate i feel this vibration...It doesnt seem to be a engine problem i recently gave it a tune up my engine light has never turned on...From a stop i can acceleratae and vibration starts at around 35mph and so on...NOW, i know its not my tires they are brand new and are balanced...It only shakes while i give it gas, while im at a steady speed its fine....The more gas i give it the more i feel it...So here's what i think it might be im not sure...i noticed grease on my rim so i looked closer and it appeasrs to be coming from my cv joint...can it be that the cv joints loss of grease is causing this? Like when i acclerate the cv joint spins since there is little or no grease its causing it to vibrate which is why i feel the vibaration at my wheel / s......Or can it be my wheel bearings...I hear this weird sound as im driving and turn slightly right to merge onto another lane when i center the wheel its stops if i turn slightly left it doesnt do that....So im thinkin it has to be something around that either the bad cv joint or a bad bearing but i think its the cv joint since grease has been leaking out of it for the past 3 weeks or so....and thats when i noticed the vibrations while accelerating...let me know what you think....My tranny has transmission fluid no oil leaks from engine or tranny....

Answers
1)   if the cv is throwing grease around get it replaced and if you have a howling sound it could be a bad bearing take it to a garage and have them test drive it. - bacon boy

2)   If it has a harsh shaking when accelerating but stops immediately when you let off the gas, it is a worn CV joint........Period. It is best to replace both complete half shafts at the same time. You can get re-manufactured at parts stores cheaper than new ones. - Jackolantern

3)   The trans-axle shaft only need to lose one needle bearing and it will vibrate. If you see grease coming from the rubber boot , is cut and the grease is leaking out. The CV bearing won,t last very long without grease. Another cause for vibration could be Torque converter bolts coming loose, or the flex-plate is cracked where the bolts go through it. This will cause a vibration under load.
Wheel bearings will growl and will be more pronounced turning side to side while driving down the road. - Donny

Is it safe to buy a new Chrysler?

Question 1
Is it safe to buy a new Chrysler?...  Is the company now safe from going out of business? This is a big purchase, I wouldn't want to end up with a car that could never be repaired or something like that...

Answers
1)   by law most companies are required to make parts for 10 years after the last model year

2)   Even if they did go out of business, Chrysler dealerships aren't the only place to get a Chrysler vehicle repaired. Plus dealerships are more expensive than most garages if you didn't know that lol - ᵀᴴᴱ ᴼᴿᴵᴳᴵᴻᴬᴸ

3)   I have a '92 Chrysler Lebaron, and it's a safe durable little car that Has lasted a long time.

5)   To answer the question, Yes, Chrysler is just fine. They won't be going out of business anytime soon.
Chrysler's are great cars, you'll be very happy with it.

To the guy who says they have to make parts for 10 years, show me the law and I'll eat your hat.
There is no such law. When the part is gone, it's gone.
I'd be more worried about GM shutting down before Chrysler. - seymore d

6)   I don't think you have to worry about Chrysler going under. Both Governments will not allow this to happen. Too many people would be out of work. Too many people are paying income tax to the Governments. - Donny

7)   you will definitely be fine.other places would still be able to service your car, and anyway the government has proven that they won't let chrysler go out of business - D@ B!gg BosS

1)   amazingkeys.com can supply this key for $17.94 for your 2001 Chrysler 300m. They have affiliates all over the country that can cut and program the key for you. They also have the remotes I would order a few extras so this will not happen to you again. Here is the link to the picture of the key and the description: - Bob R

2)   With proof of ownership, your dealer can provide a key no. From there whatever it costs to cut a key. - badbill1941

3)   Most dealers will sell, cut and program the key for around $60
The dealer I work at does this.
If you bring in your own key, we charge $10 to cut from code, $80 to program.
The car must be with you when the key is cut and programed.
It's cheaper to buy the key from the dealer. - seymore d

4)   All the above! And here is a tip. If your key is a standard with out key fob built in, You can make an extra to hide behind the license plate using one of the plate fasteners to go through the hole in the key (which may have to be enlarged). That way if you lock your keys in the car or loose them, you have a spare. Just remember to use a plate screw that a coin (pennie) can take out. Pick one of the above for best answer. I was just letting you know how to save a little time and grief. I had 2 teenage daughters that were bad about locking their cars with the keys in the ignition. - Jackolantern

How fix LHS heater that is blowing cold?...  I have a 94 chysler lhs with a 3.5l that heater blows cold. Antifreeze if full and I replaced the thermostat and gasket. What else can I do to fix heater to make it blow warm?

Answers
1)   plugged heater core have it cleaned and flushed. - Scott W

2)   Usually it is a problem with the blend air door operations, first you would need to plug into your OBD II out let and get the body fault codes then go from there
Good luck - rick b

3)   You need to get your heater core flow checked. If the flow is very slow the little rad is plugged with lime. If the flow is OK then you need to look for a head gasket leak. - Donny

4)   It's vital that the anti-freeze is mixed properly and of the proper type and quality , it should be tested with a anti-freeze tester the mixture should be 50/50 or for a good -40c.Next you want to bleed the air out of the coolant system via the bleeder valve located on the thermostat housing or by starting up the engine cold and them removing the over flow cap , stand back, keep an eye on the temperature gauge and wait for the coolant to over flow, that should get the air out. Then shut it off , let the engine cool down a bit, top up the coolant and then start it up again , warm it up and try the heat again and later check the coolant level once again.

There are vent doors that work via cables/vac systems and one could be stuck or jammed , a hose could be loose or leaking etc.

The heater-core located close to the windshield under the hood has two hoses going to it and with the engine fully warmed up with the heat on these two hoses should be getting hot.Sometimes the heater-core has a air clog or clog inside of it and flushing the coolant system/heater-core can help. One way is with the engine cold switch the two hoses around and then start it up, allow time to warm up , put heat on full, switch the key off , wait a bit and switch the hoses back around.

Hope that helps and best of luck.By the way if the wrong thermostat is installed that could cause that problem too, plus if you see any gunk on the inner side of the windshield or smell an odd smell with the heat on that means change the heater-core.If you want to learn about how the vac and vents/heat/ac assembly comes apart or is set up or you need parts I suggest a U pull auto wreckers.

Happy Holidays. - helpful bob

5)   Back flush the core with a water hose. If it still doesn't work, bleed the air out of the cooling system by opening the petcock on top of the thermostat housing located in the top, front of the engine. If this doesn't work you may have a broken blend air door. These doors are bad about twisting the door shaft into on these models I have had to replace a few. My next door neighbour just had his done this past summer. The problem is he was no longer able to get just the door replaced in the HVAC. He had to have the whole HVAC replaced. I guess Chrysler had used up all the doors. The actuator that opens and closes the doors is so strong that it will twist the plastic shaft in two! - Jackolantern

1)   try this site (i've used it): http://topbiz2.notlong.com/7AAb2WC - Lavada Meyerman

2)   if you remove and install the tranny your self you just pay for the rebuild which could run up to 1000 - drgcrtel

3)   Probably $800 to$1,000. - badbill1941

4)   A good shop or a Transmission place will put you in a rebuilt one for around $1,200 - $1,500 dollars. or a shop might find you a good used on. and work out a deal with you. call some local wrecking yards in your area. and see what the have and how much their asking for it. Good luck - Jimmy lee B.

5)   If you get the transmission at Napa and then take you P T Cruiser to get it fix it would cost you a lot less
to get it fix about $700 to $1000 Dollars - Truck Stop

6)   you're closer to 17-2100 dollars with a trans shop rebuilding it with a warranty of 12/12 and the updates a good shop will do - bo

7)   You seriously considering doing that? It's a PT Cruiser. If so, figure a thousand or two. - jldude

8)   Just something to think about but what exactly is wrong or happening with your transmission or what is occurring bec there are many misdiagnoses especially dealing with electronic/gear controlled chrysler/dodge products. Also be careful bec prices for the part/labour will tend to vary and sometimes factory upgraded replacement bands/gear/ parts are required to be installed in order to fully correct the problem.

I'd try to find a friend etc to help you and maybe pull a good low mileage transmission out of a vehicle like yours at a U pull auto wreckers bec I've seen transmissions that were rebuilt that didn't last for too long and sometimes you can get a good use one for 150-300 bucks then either install it yourself or just buy a shop to install it for you.I've seen transmission shops and mechanics do that job for 250-300 bucks but that's considered a really good deal and on average most want a good 450-600 and even 800 bucks just in the labour fees alone.

Hope that helps and best of luck.By the way there are some shops that will rebuilt it for you for as little as 800-1000 but again most charge a good 1200-2000 bucks.I'am curious what is happening exactly with your vehicle bec there are a lot of transmission control circuit problems that are mostly wiring or ground related issues and they can be the reason that even after transmissions are rebuilt etc and seem to drive or work okay for awhile but act up again.

Happy Holidays to one and all. - helpful bob

2002 PT Cruiser. To replace timing chain, what should I expect in after market parts?...  and non dealer mechanic?

Answers
1)   I found $300. it has a belt and if it breaks at hiway speed, the engine could be damaged. the belt should be replaced at 100k and it is not a job for a novice - Mike V

2)   It's a belt, not a chain. You should also get a tensioner also.
The whole kit from Mopar only runs $229
It's cheaper and a better kit than aftermarket.
As for labor, your looking at about 8 hrs. at what ever their hourly rate is. - seymore d

3)   I would say the after market parts will do the job but the warranty might be less on the after market parts. - Donny

4)   I retired from Chrysler about 5 years ago after working for them 23 years. I have found that a lot of aftermarket parts are just as good as factory. However, after saying that, I have also had to replace some aftermarket on cars and trucks that didn't work like intended! As far as the timing belt goes, Why would you want to risk a possible break down and engine damage to save a few bucks on a timing belt. All auto makers use high quality replacement parts for their vehicles.....Period. You can't find better replacement parts in aftermarket! If the repairs are of high priority, Always use original equipment parts from the dealer. Otherwise, it don't matter as much. - Jackolantern

how much would it cost to replace a transmission on a pt cruiser?

Question 1
how much would it cost to replace a transmission on a pt cruiser?...

Answers

Answers
1)   go to a auto zone they can tell you - the truth

2)   Get ready to buy some new plugs. The NGK's seem to do real good in the late model chryslers - Mike Loch

3)   What engine is in that vehicle and what's the mileage, how do the gauges act and tend to read on the average? Example do the speed gauge or rpm gauge tend to be reading too high or are they flecuating.Maybe you've noticed real high rpms when the vehicle is shifting from 0-15 mph the rpms go over 3,000 and the car tends to stutter or jerk or hestitate , plus it will do this constantly as you reach hwy speeds, once at speeds of 60 mph the rpms go well 2,500 and seem to be 2,500 or more when going 65-70mph.Another thing is the temperature gauge where does it sit when cold started, when idling and warmed up and after driving it for 2-4 hrs?

I really recommend that you follow the spark-plug wires to the ignition module/coil pack and one by one remove them clean the surface with a wire brush and do this to every connector. The code 43 could mean that this coil pack is no good but try cleaning those connections first , if you need the coil I'd go to a U pll auto wreckers bec those are quite cheap to buy used and the wreckers should have many vehicles like yours with that same coil just pull one by removing the wires , unplugging the connector and it has a couple of screws either 10-11 mm that need to be removed.

Next pull the plugs one by one and if you've not replaced them lately replace them with the proper factory recommended champion plugs bec that is the best plug for those engines.I've personally tried a whole variety of plugs in those vehicles and none of the upgraded supposely better plugs made any difference in the mileage in fact I found sometimes you loose mileage lol.In my opinion there is one thing that Dodge did that really stands out and that is on the 3.5, especially the 3.3 engines they really have installed on the assembly line the best plugs for the engine.

Code 12 doesn't mean really anything it just means that the battery was disconnected within the last 50-100 starts, plus if you got code 12 and 43 you should of gotten a code 55 meaning no more stored codes exist or end of cycle.

Hope that helps and best of luck.By the way when going to the wrecking yard there are a few extra parts you should pick up , on the fuel rail there is a fuel pressure valve held onwith either a 7-8 mm screw and I recommend getting a few of them or at least two.The fuel regulator valve can cause poor gas mileage and I bet yours is probably no good, plus this part can add another 65 miles per tank. Here's a simple test fill up the tank till it's over full where the fuel is right up to the top then try starting the vehicle and if it runs rough wants to die out but then you restart it and it drives more noremal the fuel pressure valve is no good.Note you're not really suppose to over fill those tanks but this is a sure way to know if that part is functioning fairly well.Another way is when you remove the old one does gas seem to gush out bec if the gas doesn't gush out much that is another way to suspect that fuel pressure valve is faulty.

I know a lot about those vehicles in fact I've worked on those head to toe and have totally over hauled them and I can tell you there is several common faults with those vehicles that ppl tend to end up misdiagnosing or spending needless money on.So if you want my best advice pick up any fuses, relays, bulbs, belts,spark-plug wires,BCM,TCM,PCM, clusters, multi-function switches that you can find. What I'd do if wanting to fix that vehicle yourself , to save cash and especially to have a piece of mind and spare parts either buy a parts car from a tow yard or inbound lot or wreckers or privately or look for all you can carry U pull auto wrecking yards that off a flat low rate for anything you want for your car.If you can have a spare wiring harness that runs across the front end of that vehicle to inside the car handy bec those harness's really have several different wiring issues and on many of those vehicles that age they either need to be rebuilt/fixed or fully replaced.

I truly do love those vehicles in many ways and find them great cruising vehicles that can be fairly reasonable on gas mileage if their properly kept up and over hauled but deep down I'am still a Gm Man.Believe it or not but I've personally driven and seen those 3.3 engines giving over 28 mpg hwy and even with a combo of city/hwy driving included I've seen them give almost close to the same mileage or a good 18-22 mpg city and 28 mpg hwy.Again it's really all in how you drive those vehicles and how well you keep them up bec even a good full set of brakes on those vehicles can last 2-3 yrs or more if the driver uses them right. The key with that vehicle is managing the repairs yourself and using used good parts whenever brand new parts aren't 100% required.

Question 5
What could be the brake light problem on Chrysler 2001 Sebring Convertible?...  Have a 01 chrysler sebring convertible.
brake lights won't come on.
its not the bulbs (they have been changed and are brand new)
Could it be a fuse problem?

Brake lights won't come on at all, however all other car lights functioning correctly.

Thanks
Thank you 67bronco. I do not know what that is or where it is located. It is something easy to fix myself or do I need to take it into a shop?

Answers
1)   You could have a bad brake light switch. Its located on the brake pedal arm under the dash it can be hard to replace depending on the car I would take it to the shop it could also be an electrical problem and those are hard to diagnose sometimes. Good Luck - 67Bronco

2)   It's either the fuse or the brake light sending switch. Sometimes the sending switch will get dirty and not allow it to work. First check the fuse though. - Frankie

3)   It is most likely a fuse or the brake light switch. If you follow your brake pedal arm up under the dash you will find the brake pedal switch. The fuse you want to check is #5, a 10amp red fuse, in the fusebox inside the car. You can probably fix this yourself. Good luck. - C-Tech

why won't my windshield on my 97 chrysler lhs clear up when I turn on my defrost?

Question 1
why won't my windshield on my 97 chrysler lhs clear up when I turn on my defrost?...  My windshield won't defog when I turn on the defrost. I almost died on the freeway because my windshield was all fogged up. I couldn't see where I was going. Please tell me a way to fix this. I know there's hot air coming out of the dashboard vents but it's not defogging the window. Do I need a new windshield or something? Or is it the vents? Your help is greatly appreciated.

Answers
1)   Hey, so the defogger is not working right. I'm unclear here: ''I know there's hot air coming out of the dashboard vents but it's not defogging the window'', do you mean the windsheild defoggers? If not, make sure you have pressed the correct button on your climate control knobs. If the hot air is not blowing hard, then you may need a new blower fan or if you replaced it, check the seal around it. Another possibility is the re-circulate button may be pressed. The windsheild is fine. check those things first. I hope this helps. - nsxt290

2)   Take the car to a shop that works on heaters, and explain your problem. Do it before you get into an accident. - badbill1941

3)   Your "mode door" actuator has gone bad.
It's not allowing the warm air to switch from the dashboard to the defroster vents.
A mechanic is going to have to replace it. It's under the dash and is not a easy fix for the do it yourselfer. - seymore d

4)   Could be your heater core is leaking causing moist air to be blown on your windshield. Check for damp floor mats on pass. side under dash. - Dennis

5)   You could have one of two problems. If the air coming out of the vents doesn't smell sweet, you could have a plugged up condensate drain at the bottom of the heater box. If it does, it's the heater core.
If you consistently park under a tree, I'd bet on the drain. - racefish68122

6)   There is one thing that comes to mind. When any Chrysler made product is turned to defrost, they automatically turn on the AC. The AC in defrost mode will clear the fog off the inside of the windshield a lot quicker than the heat alone will. Check and make sure it is working properly. The cold air from the AC coil is dry air and captures the moisture off the glass better than just warm air. A leaking heater core will add to the problem too. However, it usually leaves an oily film on the glass as well. If the glass stays dry with no residue after it is cleared from fog, then the core is probably OK. - Jackolantern

Is a Chrysler 300 a good buy?...  everyone i know says chrysler is a very realible luxury car...less expensive than a cadillac...i know chrysler beats BMW in reviews...one thing i am concerned with is that it is RWD...is this a major problem? like the car weighs a lot...will it being RWD be a HUGE problem in the snow? Does it have good traction systems?

Answers
1)   Its a good reliable car and yes you can drive it in the snow just fine. People have been driving RWD cars and trucks in the snow since the cars and trucks were created.

Its not a BMW or Caddy but then again its much cheaper than both of them. - emiller1998

2)   yes, only if you want the car for maximum of 3 years. after that, american made cars are junk. they start falling apart. if you really want the car, wait for the next generation model, carmaker has been talking about it for years, i think the debut is in february?? there will be many new improvements. great technology. and buy the all-wheel drive. i have a jeep with the same problem--E.T.C. is not working, nor can the RWD work in the snow. you can get a better deal on this than you can on a bmw, mercedes etc. but if i had to chose btw. this and its other american competitors, like cadillac or buick, i would definetely go for the buick lacrosse. you need to check it out. the car looks stunning. - todd

3)   The Chrysler 300 and the Dodge Charger are good full size cars. The independent rear suspension and traction control system are shared with Mercedes so they are top notch and reliable in all weather.. The 3.5 and Hemi engines are reliable and produce good power. Common failures are egr valves at about 70,000 miles, and minor trans leak at the electrical connector. An all-wheel -drive was also built but are somewhat hard to find. Always drive and have ANY used car inspected before buying. Check for serious accident damage. - C-Tech

My 98 Plymouth Grand Voyager wont start on first turn of key?...  It starts, runs STRONG but to get it started I have to hold the key for maybe 5 to 6 seconds. I just had lots of work done on this car over the last year.(new transmission, water pump, all belts, new head gasket, new cylinder heads, plugs, wires) not at once but over the year! I did run it out of gas! fuel filter maybe? car has 148,000 drives like new!
Bat was replaced in september also! it turns over, the starter spins. Its almost like trying to start a car without gas! I haven't tried pressurizing the fuel system (turn the key to acc without starting car 3 or 4 times)I also forgot to mention it only does this when its cold! not warm.
its a 3.0 v6 I have ben turning the key on to acc and off and on until i don't here the fuel pump engage anymore (for a cold start) and it starts right up! any ideas?

1)   Mabey its your batterry. Not enough power. - Joe

2)   Id say your batterys not holding a good charge or your ignition module is going out - joseph b

3)   I would put a gauge on the fuel lines to check the pump. I would also replace the filter. Then make sure the ERG is not leaking by removing and plugging the control vacuum line, and seeing that it does not heat up. Check the mass air sensor for PVC condensation. Check the engine temp sensor with an ohmmeter (generally they to 0 or infinite when bad.) - Motorhead

4)   Without knowing what size engine you have, I would have to guess.
Sounds like a cam or crank sensor and depending on the engine, maybe both.
I would also check the fuel pressure. You could have a fuel pump taking a poo on you.
If the problem persists, and cranking time gets longer to the point it won't start, then take a mallet and hit the underside of the fuel tank.
If the car starts after a couple of blows with the mallet, then the fuel pump is bad. - seymore d

5)   Turn key to on and wait 10 sec's then try to start. Fuel is draining back over night thru check valve in pump. - Dennis

Question 3
why won't my windshield on my 97 chrysler lhs clear up when I turn on my defrost?...

Question 4
I have a 2006 PT Crusier and the battery light keeps coming on. This happens periodically?...  I have had the charging system checked and it is fine? Some say it is the alternator and some say it is electrical? Anybody else have similar problems and such? How did it get resolved. Would love to hear anyone's experience before I shell out unnecessary money.
No I can't get the light to come on when they test it.....I am so frustrated..every time the light goes on they are closed.....ground out sounds about right. How can I pin point it...I need to travel from San Jose to Sac....and don't want my battery to burn out??? I want this fixed?

Answers
1)   i am going to say it is a thing that the alternator only when ne one is testing it. but it could be a grounding issue or a dioids have a break in them and every now and then there a non-connection i would take it to a good shop not a road side garage to look at it. - gunbunny2bg4u

2)   Intermittent problems like this are very hard.
Was the light on when they checked the charging system?
The way you check the alternator is simply to put a volt meter on it.
It should be 12.5 at lowest, and over 13.5 but below 14.5 when you rev it up.
Check that belt is tight, terminals are clean.

One rare possibility is that a wire has rubbed trough the insulation somewhere, and is shorting.
Very hard to find if intermittent. If it becomes consistent, then you can separate circuits to trace. - Motorhead

3)   Battery sensor is bad. The sensor is located in the battery tray under the battery itself.
Replaced a few of them since the weather's gotten colder. - seymore d

4)   The belt is likely stretched and slipping under load. Most common cause. - Dennis

Question 5
the blower control does not work at all on my Chrysler Town and Country 2006?...  My Town and Country minivan's fan/blower won't turn on at all; no matter what setting I turn it to. I know it was working yesterday when I drove two hours but it wouldn't come on at all today. The fuse is good and I was going to try the Relay which is near the fuse but the parts store didn't have one. I have three other relays that have the same numbers on them. Can I remove one and put it in the blower relay space to test it?

Answers
1)   its probably the motor if all of the speeds dont work, usually when the blower motor resistor/speed control goes out, you will only have 1 speed, high - nick

2)   Hey, I agree with the last responder. check the blower resistor to see if that is the problem. - nsxt290

3)   The resistor is bad. Very common, I've probably replaced 15 of them this week.
The motors seldom go bad.
There is a capacitor in the resistor that will burn up and you will lose even the high speed.
The resistor is suddenly getting hot air blown on it when it was getting cool air all summer.
They overheat and fail.
The resistor is cheap enough from the dealer and easy to replace. You will find it on the passenger side, under the dash. Only the electrical connector will be visible. It is held in with 2 phillips screws. Take care to not touch the resistor itself. Oil from your skin will cause the resistor to fail again prematurely. - seymore d
