Question 2
1994 chrysler lebaron 3.0L. Harmonic balancer / pulley assembly bolt. Does it have left or right hand threads?...

Answers
1)   It should be a right hand thread. Every harmonic balancer bolt I have pulled has been right handed. - Mike

2)   right hand threads. - badbill1941

3)   having a hard time getting that bolt out?

I had to buy an electric impact gun to get that bolt out of my 3.0 daytona. I just kept turning the motor over and didn't have anyway to keep it from rotating. - inmyshadow

4)   All bolts and nuts on the 3.0L are right hand fasteners. You can get the big bolt loose by using a socket on a break over with an extension and let the extension handle come in contact with the lower part of the car frame assembly on the passenger's side and hit the starter. - Jackolantern

Question 3
i have a car problem here r the symptoms? 1999 Chrysler 300M 3.5/6cylinder.?...  The motor has recently started bucking or starting to cut out then catches itself and starts back up. I have already used fuel injection cleaner and changed the plugs. Please somebody help.
OK I'M ADDING TO THE ABOVE........my car has already been put on the computer twice and absoluty nothing showed up, and to Mike, my Dad lives over an hour away and he's 75, there's no boyfriend or husband. It's just me and I rely on the help from others when needed. Thank you so much for your input. I truly appreciate it, but now that you know it's been on the computer what do I do now?
Oh yeah, I'm sorry but I don't understand what all these initials stand for....lol. I'm better w/the non computer cars.....lol.

1)   Your muffler bearings are shot. - Nate

2)   you need pro help/can be number of things/afm/ecm/egr/fuel pump etc/dont keep throwing parts at it/can get expensive and still not fix it - ken k

3)   We need more information. I can suggest going to a parts store, like Autozone, where they will read the engine computer codes for free. - C-Tech

4)   Hi Fyebyrd,

This could be several issues. Could be a timing issue, in which case you will need a new timing belt. Another timing issue could be coming from a bad Cam Sensor. If your car 'surges' like my 96 Concorde with a 3.5, at 50 km/h (30 mph), the rpms will drop to 750 then surge up to 1200 and continue until I get up to 60 km (40 mph), then it could be a bad Throttle Position Sensor. Could also be problems with your ECM, there is a whole pile of other things this could be. As another answerer said, take it to your parts store and have them do a diagnostic on it, it will give you all the trouble codes and then you can repair them. If your dad or boyfriend/husband has a code reader, make them feel needed and ask them to do it for you.
I say "give me an old fashioned points and condenser system where the engine has only a dozen wires going to it and I'm happy" Gotta love engineers! - Mike

Question 4
baracuda Longitudinal Stripe "please help"?...  i'm restoring my 1971 Baracuda and it originally had a Longitudinal stripe and i can't find it anywhere. if you know of a website that carries this stripe please help

thanks.

Answers
1)   Year One. I assume you mean the Billboard stripe. Year One has them for the 340, 383, 440, and HEMI logo. About $230.

On the left-hand side of the page find Catalog Links then click Mopar A/B/E bodies. Then click Stripes and Decals - Mad Jack

2)   Yeah, check Year One and even Phoenix Graphics. - done wrenching

3)   I don't remember the Barracuda ever having a longitudinal stripe other than maybe a double pinstripe, but anyway try http://phoenixgraphix.com/, they may have it.

The '70 Challenger R/T had a longitudinal stripe if it was so ordered. - Don't know everything !

Question 5
More mpg on a 1995 plymouth acclaim.?...  I have a 1995 plymouth acclaim v4. Its a carberated throttle body type setup, i usually only get 150 to 200 miles to a tank of gas, any way i can get more mpg?

Answers
1)   When was the last time you tuned up your car? First start with distributor, rotor, plugs, wires, fuel filter and air filter.

Is your check engine light on? Any codes will cause the computer to be in limp home mode. Its a baseline program to make sure the car can makes it where ever. Not the best for gas mileage.

How is your driving? Trying easing up on the gas pedal. Drive in a way to keep the RPMs down.

Seriously, you have a problem with your car. You should see at least 22mph on your car. My turbo shadow gets better mpg then your car. - inmyshadow

2)   Do you drive exclusively in town? Assuming you do everything the other answer says, then you should be getting way better MPG. I am also assuming you really mean a full tank of gas, that you are not just fiulling up every 150-200 miles. If you drive mostly highway miles, you should easily get 350 miles per tank, and even with all town driving you should get 300ish miles per tank.

Some questions: do you burn a lot of oil? Do you have to add oil at every gas up, or a quart every 1000 miles, or maybe a quart every 3000 miles? If you have to add a lot of oil, you probably have some significant engine issues, my first guess being compression, in which case you invest a lot for a proper engine overhaul, or live with what you have. If you aren't burning through a lot of oil, are you at least changing oil regularly? I recommend every 5,000 miles (I know most folks say 3,000 but we can argue that later). Are you using oil appropriate to your climate and the specification laid out by the engineers who designed the car (which means either 5w30 or 10w30). If you are using heavier oil (say straight 30, or 10w40) you are wasting gas. Ignore weekend mechanic myths that heavier oils protect better, trust the automotive engineers and lubricant engineers, that is what they get paid for.

Are you keeping your tires properly aired?

Have you kept your transmission maintained? You should be changing the fluid and filter in your tranny every 10,000 or 15,000 miles (sorry, I don't remember the specifics on the Acclaim). Old tranny fluid will crap on your MPG.

As the other answerer noted, drive what I call "more casually." This is the most likely culprit, the old bit about avoiding jackrabbit starts and hard braking. Take it easy, don't speed. Act like there is a glass of water on the dash, and drive so you never spill the water.

Okay, back to the city driving. If you make lots of short trips every day, your engine never heats up, so you never get good MPG. Couple this with heavy motor oil, and you have a recipe for burning cash. Switch to 5w30. Start planning trips so that you drive to your furthest destination first, in order to warm the engine up, then catch the other destinations on the way back. This isn't always the most efficient route, but it is better for your engine and MPG, so you have to balance. Also, never idle a cold engine. No big deal on a hot engine, but idling when cold is when your engine is at its least efficient, oil is still relatively thick. Idling a cold engine may use 32 ounces of gas in the 15-20 minutes it takes to warm up, while idling a hot engine may use a "mere" 8 ounces of gas in the same amount of time (either way, idling equal zero MPG).

Well, i hope you find something useful in all that. I'll add some links below, too. - golgafrincham
