How can I remove pin striping from my car?

Question 1
How can I remove pin striping from my car?...  I just bought a car (used--but new to me) I love. But it has pin striping along the side. Is there a way I can safely remove it myself or would I have to take it to a shop? I was able to remove a bit just by pulling it, but it's taking too long...only tiny strips are coming off at a time. Thanks!!

Answers
1)   just take the time to do it, it might take a while but it is cheapest. but there is always the shop. - Rob

2)   Use a hair dryer and warm up the striping then it will peel off quite easily in one pull! - Brian

3)   If you go to a good automotive paint store they will sell you a decal eraser...It,s just a big rubber wheel that you can put on a drill and erase that pin stripping off your car..Be careful not to use at too high of a speed so you don,t go through the paint...Also soaking the pin stripping with wd 40 will help unglue the adhesive.. - Johnny Rotten

4)   Break out the hair dryer, something to sit on and go at it, hopefully there is not a clear coat over the stripes which I've seen in the past on factory pinstripes.

It is time consuming to do but the hair dryer will help get longer strips off. Take your time, don't rush, try a fairly low heat setting first and move up a notch at a time, you can ruin paint if you're not careful. You can't do it all in 30 minutes so plan on at least one or two hours depending on the number and width of the stripes.

I've seen the "pinstripe erasers" ruin paint. - Don't know everything !

5)   They have decal remover at auto stores,if you choose to try this ,put it on an area of paint, maybe a spot inside the trunk to make sure it will be paint friendly before you apply to pin striping.Manufacturer claims it's safe for paint, better safe than sorry afterwords.Always heard W-40 was good for that, might need to soak awhile first.Don't want to give you any bad info so please check around good first.Update:5-2-10. Just wanted to let you know I just tried a label and sticker remover on glass made by The Dominion Sure Seal Corp.Don't waste your money on this stuff.Had better luck with Windex and paper towel. The label was small, but took forever to remove, used lots of label remover.Maybe some of the ideas other people sent in will help you.Good luck! - Cobra1

Question 4
04 town and country chrysler steering wheel vibrates when turning wheel in park?...  engine running

Answers
1)   Doing this is very hard on the power steering pump. It is getting weak with age and will eventually fail. - Otto

2)   so fill the power steering reservoir,,,its empty/low.. - pedro7of9

3)   This is a fairly common occurrence, the pump is working extra hard to change the tire direction when the vehicle is parked. If the tires are wide, under inflated, or the power steering reservoir is low on fluid it will occur more frequently.

Check power steering fluid level just to be sure it is within limits, the van probably has an integrated power steering reservoir and it is clearly marked. Check your front tires for proper inflation as under inflated tires will be more difficult to turn when the van is stationary. - Don't know everything !

4)   There is a TSB to add a longer power steering cooler return line to your van. Cost is probably around 150.00 parts and labor to fix your problem. - Gregory A
