1)   There is no reason in the world that they shouldn't pay it back... Although, we as tax payers, will never see a dime of it... - Steve-o

2)   Wrong side of the argument, They should re pay with interest.
In the late 70.s Chrysler was headed to bankruptcy and got a bail out to launch their K series of cars, they repaid with interest 5 years ahead of pay off.

Question 4
What is meant by intercooled engines?...

Answers
1)   It means there is a heat exchanger (cooler) install between (inter) between the turbo/super charger and the intake manifold. - Old Man Dirt

2)   Well as i understand it an inter-cooler is an additional part to a turbo charged engine system where the exhaust gas is used to drive/ run a tribune that takes clean air and stuffs more air and fuel mixture in too the engine cylinders; thus resulting in a significant increase in horse power an additional benefit is to use an inter-cooler to cool the mixture before it enters the engine, this creates a denser fuel air mixture that results in even more power increases (an inter-cooler is like an air conditioner for the fuel air mixture before it enters the cylinders/engine to simplify things) PS: I AM NOT A MECHANIC LOL JUST KNOW A LITTLE ABOUT CARS AND I LOVE POWER/SPEED - BIGDADDY911

3)   An intercooled engine has what amounts to a radiator for the air that is forced into the engine from either a turbocharger or supercharger. The idea is to reduce the temperature of the air entering the engine to reduce the chance of detonation, which can cause complete engine failure. - Sean

4)   Anku, The turbocharger compresses the air going into the intake but this also heats the air causing it to expand. The inter-cooler cools it back down while leaving it compressed so you can get more air into the engine. The first year that Dodge came out with Diesel, it didn't have inter-cooling. But shortly after, they all had inter-cooling. - Jackolantern

Question 5
What is the fuel economy rating of a Chrysler 440 V8?...  I'm interested in the 1966-'70 engines.
I've seen official ratings for the '78 440 V8 at 10 city 16 highway. I was wondering if there was a difference between the pre and post-smog engines.

Answers
1)   I just looked it up, and it's rated in 3 different ways.

1) 100 smiles per gallon

2) If you have to ask, you shouldn't get one

3) About 10 mpg city - Romantic rocker

2)   Had a 70 Chrysler wagon that got 8-10 mpg in town, and 12-15 mpg on the highway. If you're putting it into a lighter car, more mileage. - badbill1941

3)   The crude answer is, engines don't have fuel economy ratings, only the cars they are in do. But it's not an engine for fuel economy, so if you get above 10, you're doing well. Unless it was one of the gutless 200hp 440's. - Sean
