is 93 chrysler lebaron convertible a good car?

Question 1
is 93 chrysler lebaron convertible a good car?...  my dad thinking about getting one for me is it any good?

Answers
1)   no - Scrambles

2)   They were popular convertible cars in the 90's. The better engines were the 3.0 V-6 and the base 4 cyl. The turbocharged engines cost more to maintain and many 2 or 3rd owners did not spend the money to maintain them. As ALL used cars, it mostly depends on how the last owner kept it up. Test drive it and see how the trans shifts, any unusual noises, does it pull to the left or right, and do the a/c and power items (windows, top, locks) works. If these things are fine, then it may be worth buying. They are fairly easy to work on and generally ok. - C-Tech

3)   NO, stay with 1996 or newer vehicle. You want/need OBDII for a young driver. The 93 Lebaron is just rife with difficulties and more time consuming involved diagnostics. There are some pretty expensive parts that routinely fail in these OBDI Chrysler/Plymouth/Dodge vehicles and you just don't need that.

Sci, 96 T&C, 95 (OBDII) and 98 Neons - sci

4)   Bear in mind, it's a car that is already 17 years old. Probably with high mileage. Get ready for some expenses. - badbill1941

5)   run away from this as fast as you can. Lebarons were not a good car even new. - ClarkL

Question 2
Is Chrysler going to go out of business anytime soon?...  Im looking to buy a 300c but I don't want to get it if they are going to be going out of business soon.

Answers
1)   the bird says nooooooo/they are trimmed and in good shape - ken k

2)   i hope so ! just like all the rest of the car factories they just make junk. - bandit_60

3)   I don't think so. They have re-grouped, and look pretty stable for some time to come. - badbill1941

4)   The jury is still out. They appear stable for now. It all depends how fast they get new models to market. Last month, 58% of their vehicles were sold to rental car companies. The public is not interested in their products.

The bigger reason to avoid a 300 is the horrible reliability history. Front end components, transmissions, electrical issues. The only good thing is the styling, which is getting old now anyway. - Mike

Question 3
Why is my car acting like this?...  i have a 2002 chrysler sebring lxi. when i got it was nice and clean low milage. Anywho, ive been having a small issue with my temperature gage. I find this weird, but whenever i put antifreeze in the resvoir and i fill it to the max. when i am drving or sitting at a stop light sometimes my gauge goes midway and usually it is under the midway line. I usually put the ac on to keep it from rising, but today i had my ac on and it started going midway again. do i need to put anti freeze in the radiator or should i take it somewhere to get looked at?

Answers
1)   2 things:

Turning on the AC makes the engine hotter

How often do you have to add coolant? If your car is consuming antifreeze, there is something wrong. Fill the radiator while the engine is cold, and fill the reservoir. You may just have burned off the factory coolant and need to add more. If it takes a lot of coolant, problem solved. If it's empty again in a week, bring it in to get it looked at - gravitybong

2)   You may have a bad radiator cap, dirty radiator, or a bad cooling fan.
P.S. Turning on the a/c will not cool down the engine. - badbill1941

3)   First off there are two lines on the over flow reservoir container one is the max amount when the engine is cold the other is when the engine is hot, plus never over fill the reservoir by filling it to the top.

You need to test the anti-freeze with the engine cold with a anti-freeze tester that you can buy for 8 bucks or so at walmart etc, make sure it's mixed 50/50 or a good -40c and never just add water use distilled water.

Once you have the right anti-freeze and distilled water mixture run the engine awhile idling watch the temperature gauge and watch , listen for the fan to engage, and also try the A/C while it's warmed up idling see if the fan engages. If the fan or fans don't engage check the two fan relays, the fuse , the temperature sensor, the fan and wiring. The most common reason for a fan not to engage is a relay and their not expensive and easy to replace and try checking the part numbers on the two fan relays and switching them around just as a test.

Hope that helps and best of luck.By the way when the A/C is on the engine gets hotter and then if sitting at a light the fan would engage and the temperature would drop.So it might be a good idea to check the things I've mentioned and have a radiator shop or mechanic give the car a free coolant system test. - helpful bob

4)   Run the engine at idle and raise the hood and see if the cooling fan is coming on and going off to keep the radiator at the proper temp. If it is. then you are ok. If not, the fan motor may be out. Your car may have 2 fans. If so, they both should work when the engine coolant gets just below boiling. The normal temp for your coolant is around 190 degrees. And never use pure antifreeze in the coolant system. It has a tendency to run hot and will freeze quicker than a 50/50 mix with water. - Jackolantern

Question 4
06 Chrysler 300 speedometer fuse?...  Where is the fuse for the speedometer on a 06 Chrysler 300?
Yesterday my speedometer stopped working on the drive home. Before I take it to a shop I want to check to see if it may be fuse related. Can anyone tell me what the specific fuse is and in which of the 2 fuse boxes is it located?
Thanks in advance for any help !

Answers
1)   the fuse box is under the dash that has a crack in it which "opens" - lancer0927

2)   It won't be the fuse. On the totally remote chance it is, you need to figure out why it's popping fuses. - Mike

3)   There is no specific fuse for just the speedometer on your car. The instrument cluster get a signal from the pcm or abs module to display the speed. You may have an abs problem. - C-Tech

4)   lenny, there is no fuse for the speedometer by it's self. I would disconnect the battery and hook it back and see if it goes back to work. If it doesn't, than you probably have a speedometer problem. And it is not the speed sensor unless the check engine light is on and the car won't shift into 3rd. - Jackolantern
