Have to talk to a boy about cars...mopar?

Question 1
Have to talk to a boy about cars...mopar?...  How can I tell if a car is a hemi? And if the tailights are square, what year would that be? Any help appreciated!

Answers
1)   if you got a hemi the spark plugs will be right in the middle of the valve cover. search google, you may be able to see some pictures. I don't know classic cars so I couldn't tell you years or body cues. - James

2)   well... mopar stands for:
Massively
Over
Powered
And
Respected.

tell him this and 'mopar or no car' and you can't really go wrong. :p - Nathan Ferguson

3)   mopar,
Move Over Pontiac Approaching Rapidly,
Moments Of Power Are rare.
a hemi will usually have the spark plug wire going into the valve cover really.
as for the tail lights, i dont have that information. - mdk68gto, ase certified m tech

4)   Tail lights? Maybe head lights. Headlights were round on all cars from day one until about 1975 for some models, and definitely by 1977 for all. By then all cars had rectangular headlights... - Delamothe

5)   First visit http://www.allpar.com/ and do a little research.

The Hemi is on its third generation so you're probably going to be discussing the current generation of 5.7 and/or 6.1 Hemi engines, or possibly the second generation (1964-1971) which was the 426 cubic engine Hemi.

Usually a car equipped a hemi engine will be badged as such, either on the door, hood, or front fender. Examples of this can be found at the above site. Click cars, click Dodge cars and minivans, scroll the menu until you find Dodge Charger, Challenger, or Coronet all were equipped with the hemi at some point. You may also want to check Plymouth cars and later model Dodge trucks. - Don't know everything !

Question 3
where can I find plymouth fury?...  where can I find a 1958 Plymouth fury aka Christine I cant seem to find one

Answers
1)   try www.autotraderclassics.com - jimanddottaylor

2)   the '58 Fury is an extremely rare car. less than 6,000 were made(which is a VERY low number for a mass-produced car), and few survive after 52 years. I saw a fully restored version on Ebay Motors a while back, it was fetching over $50k.

there are several other options. in 1958, virtually every model made by Plymouth had very similar styling. the 1958 Plymouth Fury, Belvedere, Savoy, and Plaza all had the same basic styling. the only differences were the roofline, options, trim, and engines/transmissions.

it's going to be A LOT cheaper and easier to find an old '58 Savoy or Belvedere than finding a Fury. any other '58 Plymouth will look almost exactly the same, but for 1/10 of the price of a Fury. your best option is to search Ebay Motors Collector, Hemmings, or Collector Car Trader.

here's a site with some more info on the 1957-58 Plymouth cars:

3)   a 52 year old car is gonna be hard to find - livinindasoobaby

4)   If you got lots of coin, go to Cuba. You wouldn't believe the old cars that are on the road there. - Donny

Question 4
Plymouth 1971 should i?...  My uncle might sell it to me but it might need work is it worth it? its truely a amazing car

Answers
1)   Yes, do it! You deserve a truly amazing car. - Gabe

2)   Plymouths from that period were highly dependable, especially the slant 6 engine which was bullet proof. Therefore it has the potential. But everything depends on the condition and how much work you are willing and able to do. - Richard D

3)   You need to elaborate your question, what kind of 71 Plymouth are you referring to? Barracuda, Fury, Satellite, Valiant, Trailduster(SUV), Duster, Roadrunner. Whatever model you have, it's going to be very expensive & difficult to find parts for; so I hope your rich. - Rustynail

4)   If it is a two door model it will have a fair amount of value and sheet metal is much easier to find for the two doors, a lot is actually being reproduced today. Mechanically the engine, transmission and rear differential (or third member) were used for a number of years and repair parts are easier to find then sheet metal.

If a four door model, the value is not as great and sheet metal is harder to find but the "four door" crowd is growing rapidly. And the mechanical pieces are virtually the same across the lines of Chryslers (C-bodys), Dodges and Plymouths (A, B, and C-bodys).
