what do you think of pt cruisers?

what do you think of pt cruisers?

I'm seventeen and really want one, I think they are so cute! What do you all think of them? Like not the way they look, I mean how do they run? Do they hold up well or will it be a constant fixer upper? I'm moving away for college in about three months so i can't handle having a car that will give me a lot of trouble. any advice on a good car? i have an eight thousand dollar spending limit.

[Best Answer]well in my opinion they are very good to drive, low maintenance and very reliable. i own 3 right now, a 2001 PT Cruiser with 204k Miles, a 2006 PT Cruiser with 45k miles and a new 2009 PT Cruiser with 2k miles and all have HID (High Intensity Discharge) Headlights. i love my 3 Cruisers and i don't plan on getting rid of them anytime soon. Transmission on the 01 is still working fine, except for when i shift from reverse to drive but doesn't bother me because it does have 204k on it so its expected. but if you have any questions E-Mail me at spiritofvengence@ymail.com if you want more information on a PT Cruiser or have questions on the headlights. Headlights are great by the way because they really light up the road and don't blind other people while driving so i like the Cruisers and the headlights.

They are classy and stylish.

They have 4 Stars in crash test (Excellent mark)

And according to Carcomplaints.com they have a decent reputation of quality.

weve had ours for 3 years now, and it is a great car. very low maintenance, good fuel economy, and fun to drive. no complaints.
McGuyver

I don't really like them very much but they are dependable.

my best friend owns a 2007 pt cruiser and it is very nice. he and i always compete to see who's car is better (mine is a 2003 nissan altima)

You can get older PT Cruisers extremely cheap (saw one for sale that was $1000 but that was an 2001)

A lot of PT Cruiser owners are very happy with what they buy, they are stylish, dependable, and most importantly good on gas.

Since you're 17 you probably don't care about value but the downside to Cruisers is they lose about 1/2 to 2/3 of its value just with in the first year if you buy it brand new.

But I also assume this is your first car. Try to look for an older model (2001-2004) for a better price, dark read is also a really good color for this car. Just remember if you buy used, make sure the vehicle was well-maintained and has a clean carfax report

Take a look into nissan altima's too (2002-2006) you might be impressed with those as well. Also try looking at Honda Civics, Toyota Corollas, Ford Focuses. Oh and since you have an $8000 limit, you will have NO problem finding a PT Cruiser
.
Since Im 19 y/o guy though I'd take either the Nissan Altima or the PT Cruiser, both are extremely reliable dependable cars! Altimas are iff at $8000 though, so if you choose one of those be careful

Good luck with whatever you buy, and good luck in college and osrry there's a big wall of text! :D

What's better the Dodge Charger or the Chrysler 300?

The Dodge Charger is much better than the 300.Most thing a 300 is good for is just the look. The Charger comes with everything style and torque!
Mandingo

i wouldnt recommend either of them since the whole chrysler company is declaring bankruptcy, there reliability is very bad and your going to be putting a lot more money into them. i think a chevy camaro is cool if you want a sports car or ford mustang 2010 which was redesigned. if you want a luxury car then the lexus is or if you want something cheaper then a toyota camry or honda accord. the camry and honda get alot better gas mileage too
roadrules15

Its the same car with a different body. So is the Magnum and the Challenger. They all have pretty good reliability too.
emiller1998

Same car, slightly different body style. I personally like them both, the 300 is more luxurious and refined, which can be good if you want a fast car that will fool people who think it may be slow.

Chargers are more ferocious looking and less luxurious, either way I think they both cater to kind of a young crowd

Either way they are both bada** cars

Plymouth duster good first car?

I would like to buy a plymouth duster and was just wondering for help. My neighbor is looking at selling a 1978 duster in fair shape. I was wondering if its worth it, how high the insurance will be, and if it is a good car
Also, this would be my first car since i am 16

78 Duster?

The last year for the Duster was 76. There were "duster" trim packages for the Volare coupe at some point, Turismo, and Sundance, but the actual Duster was 70-76. I had a 76 with a 318 V8 and a three speed stick

My guess is you have the year wrong, it's probably a 75 or 76

Assuming that, it is a good car, although not very sophisticated by today's standards. The 225 "slant six" is nearly bulletproof but not fast, the V8's will be much faster. As to whether it's "worth it", worth what? You give no indication of specific vehicle information nor the price being asked. Insurance shouldn't be too bad, but you should call your agent to know for sure how much it will be.
PMack

Yes and if you restore it nicely it will be worth a lot of money. The insurance is much lower on a car that old.If it has the slant 6, put a better cam in it, bore the cylinders and put some good rings in it and if it doesn't have the super 6 intake, find one.
If it has the 318, you have more to work with. The 318 was one of the most reliable production engines ever made.I once drove a stock @ 140 mph for about 560 miles and it had close to 200k on it.
Also if you want good fuel economy, put a GM carb on it from maybe a 283 chevy(you'll have to rework a few linkages and vacuum lines.
Last, get an under drive over drive unit, use a 2.73 rear end, you'll have good take off and get great gas mileage and more top end speed.

A 78 duster would be a volare body that should be all but rotted away by now.
done wrenching

Get as much resource as you can maybe is one option, however it could be quite time consuming, here http://www.AutoInsuranceFree.info/free-auto-insurance.htm is one resource i have had good experience.

Whistling/squeaking sound from my '08 Chrysler Town and Country?

Hello! I have a 2008 Chrysler Town and Country Touring. Sometimes (but not all the time), when my car is moving I hear a high pitched squeaking sound coming from the engine area. It is loud when I roll my window down. I don't hear it all the time, however. Can anyone tell me what I should tell the dealership I think the problem is? I know when I go in, the sound probably won't get duplicated and they won't do anything. If I could point them in the direction of a belt, etc it would be great!

Thanks!

I would defiantly mention the belt. In my fiance's car, it made a similar sound but it was his wheel well. Just tell them to do a diagnostic check and that all you are looking to repair is the source of the noise. Don't let them talk you into paying for something you don't think you need. And don't leave unless you think it's fixed. Good luck
Looking4Edward

Have them look at the belt and tentioner ( maybe out of align). And if the a/c compressor is dragging to much, Also look for any contamination in the belt grooves. If you tried to lube the belt in anyway you are kind of S. O. L. on warranty coverage since you basically contaminated the belt and is not a failed part on Chrysler's side of the deal. And ask them to make sure there are no TSB's on this problem and they can show you by running a function 70 at the time of write up on the van , this is free ( the function 70)
rick b

If you really dont know what the cause of the noise is, make an appointment to take your service advisor on a road test so that you can duplicate the sound for them; they can then explain to the technician assigned to your vehicle what to look and listen for.

05 Chrysler Town+Country all four power lock don't work. Need help?

all power windows and power slide doors and tail gate work. The door panel click switches can control the tail gate lock only. But can't do any function on four front and rear door locks. All fuses inside fuse box under hood checked. Owner manual has no mention on power lock fuse. The power window fuse ok. What else ? There is no fuse inside the interior. Please help.

It sounds like the power window switch (located inside the drivers door) has gone bad. Depending on where you live, it could be a couple hundred dollars to fix. If I were you I would have the main switch inspected - Body shops (collision repairs shops) are generally cheaper (labor wise) compared to a mechanical shop, and are just as qualified to do the repair - I would take it to a shop for them to look at. If they confirm it is the switch, they may not charge you to look if you let them replace it - they won't have the part in stock, they will have to order it, but you can return to have the switch installed once they get the part in.
Kimberlee

There is a fuse box inside that vehicle and yes one of the fuses is for the door locks but it might not be labelled saying so but there are relays for the door locks too.It could also be a bad wire or ground in the system.

Hope that helps and best of luck.
helpful bob

You may have to call the dealer to find out where the fuse is for it, but it sounds like there is no power going to the door lock switches.Check and see if the wires to it has come off. You'll have to pop the door panel off to check it.You may be able to trace the wire back to the fuse block as well from there.Look at the color of the heavy wire going to it.
