When you take off the transmission cap there is no stick and the entry hole is very small with no other visible place to add transmission fluid.

I am not very mechanical so a detailed description would help immensely rather than me have to pay $75 to just look at it.

well there should be a dip stick to check the fluid level, are you sure you are looking at the tranny fluid?to fill it you will need a small funnel but dont fill anything until you are sure the tranny is low you dont want to over fill it,thats not good on the tranny.

It gets added through the dipstick tube hole which is what I assume you mean by the transmission cap. Just use a funnel which will fit inside the hole.
Howard L

purchase a small funnel that fits the hole, about $2 transmission
fluid at parts store about $4 and there ya go.
ridingorracing

you add the fluid down the neck of the tube you pull the dipstick out of.
generally this takes a funnel. make sure to check fluid level with motor running and transmission hot.if the tranny has no dipstick you need to get one other wise how do you know it needs fluid?

you need to buy a transmission dip stick if it dont have one and how you know it s needs it if you cant check it really but you add fluid thru hole where dip stick was you need a small funnel

Whatever you do, be SURE to use only the ATF that Chrysler recommends. On the older transmissions, Dexron will kill them dead. You prob use ATF+4, but check your manual. Your manual will also tell you how to check and add the fluid.
Also, are you at operating temperature? Has the car been driven going thru the gears to assure an accurate reading? If you are checking the fluid stone cold, or barely warm, the reading you will get won't be right....and how do you know if you need ATF if you don't have a dipstick to check the fluid level?
My gut feeling is that being such a new car, it shouldn't need ATF to be added. I suspect another problem.
If you don't know what you are doing, it would be smart to pay a competent mechanic to look at it, as a lot of damage can be done with the best of intentions. There is no shame in that.

The automatic transmissions of the 300, Magnum, and Charger are all sealed units. They have no dipstick, and have no tube for filling with ATF.

It is the most confounding thing about these cars, and I have no idea why they were designed like this.

How much oil to put into a Chrysler 360 engine?

Its been bored 30 over, and had a larger cam installed, the dipstick does not show... I have been told 6 quarts.... is this correct?

[Best Answer]Car engines were 5 quarts, truck engines were 6 quarts.

The standard capacity is five quarts.... I don't believe boring will affect oil capacity.
ahanix1989

How big is the oil pan? That will tell you right there how much oil to use.
Uncle Bo

i think 5qt's. i would put 5 in it,and then check it.

What do people think about 2008 used Chrysler sebring converibles?

I have been reading some information that doesn't sound all that positive on the used 2008 model. I love the vehicle and have wanted to buy one for years. The monthly payment for the one I found would be 300 range a month for 60 months but the warranty wouldn't be that long. The car insurance would run about $100 a month. I know people who have this car and they love it. New is too expensive $29,000 up. I can get a used 2008 for under $20,000.

yahoo did a story yesterday on these and the were one of the 10 worst used car buys.

however, i like them and would buy one if i had the money, but i have a wife and 2 kids in college and cant afford one at this time

I haven't really heard any good things about it either, and there are plenty of better cars out there in the same price range. But if it's really what you want then go for it. You only live once!
Chris M

Avoid this car for god's sake.
Pile of poor quality parts and this car overall will be more expensive to own.

You can do much better and do some digging around online for more ideas on who builds a better car.

Kia would be better than that vehicle.

Common situation you met like many other people,be patient, and check the resource here http://www.CarInsuranceTip.info/free-car-insurance.htm i found useful.

Sounds like an O2 sensor.
wld_jkr

yep probably rear but ive never worked on 1 it could be the front who knows what triggers a code.it dont say o2, it says catalytic converter beyond threshhold(or some crud like that). so if it just popped, id try o2
idontgivafork

Catalyst System Efficiency Below Threshold (Bank 1)
See the link below for lots of info! Could be an O2 sensor, or cat, or more.
GTCturboII

This is the classic catalytic converter code. It means that your back O2 sensor (after cat converter) is reading pretty much the same as your front O2 sensor. The cause is usually a fouled, clogged, or wornout catalytic converter. It can also be caused by a sluggish O2 sensor or an engine running inefficiently in some way (dirty MAF sensor, exhaust leak, even bad fuel).

Chrysler 340 timing help?

I have a chrysler 340 engine and the timing mark on the balancer shows only on the 5th cyclinder with the timing light instead of the first cyclender. I can't figure out why it doe's this. any help?

I have run into this before. The harmonic balancer is made from two pieces with a rubber insert between the two halves. The outer ring has slipped and the timing mark is not where it is supposed to be. If this is what happened, you will have to get a different one. Used ones are ok, but check to see what the rubber looks like, so you won't have the same trouble again.
michael k

Your balancer is no good. The rubber between the balancer is worn and the mark has moved out of place and don't keep running the engine it could throw the outer ring of the balancer or shake the crank so much it will crack the crank or wear the bearings
rick b

What do you mean it shows only on the 5th cyl? Isn't cyl #1 firing? If there is spark going to #1 cyl you will be able to find the timing mark somewhere. First you must determine which cyl is #1. Cyl #1 is the one closest to the front of the car and on a v-8 like the 340 it may be hard to determine so recheck that you are sure which cyl is #1, then hook up your timing light. Start looking at the timing tab and if you can't find the mark keep looking farther from the tab untill you find it while watching that you dont get the wires caught in moving engine. Different engines vary but most normal engines will run @ +20 to -5 or so. If the timing mark is more than this and it runs the harmonic balancer is probably bad and must be replaced. Try setting the timing by ear. First find the mark then adjust timing very little at a time to see when it idles the smoothest and fastest without sparknock. if it knocks timing is just a little fast. Typically you can set the timing slightly higher than factory recommendations and get better performance but factory spec is the best starting point.

could you have put the distributor in 180 degrees off?
