96 Crystler cirrus clicking when trying to start?

Worked fine to my knowledge the other day... went to go to work and now car won't start... turn the key and a loud clicking over and over happens in the engine... the car gets power since all sensors come on and acts like its gonna start but doesnt... never made this loud clicking either. Any help would be appreciated... already replaced the started fuse.
It is not the starter solenoid, jumped the car and started right up but turned off and wont restart...

The battery could be dead, sounds like the starter doesn't have enough juice to turn over.

Poor battery cable connections, weak battery, or defective starter.

It's either your starter solenoid, or your battery.

Easiest is to remove the battery and take it to a parts store and have them test it. A bad battery will allow the lights to show, but there is not enough power to turn over the car.

You might also check the battery connections under the hood to make sure they are clean and tight.

It's the starter itself. 13 years old...needs to be replaced.

1 of 2 things. Flat battery, or bad starter solenoid. You can try and jump the car or get a cheap automotive battery tester from a local shop. If the battery is good and you get the clicks, you will have to replace the starter. The click you hear is the solenoid engaging the little gear that spins the flywheel.

battery could be dead
starter motor could be faulty.
starter solenoid could be faulty...
open or faulty battery cable somewhere

get the car to a mechanic..

The clicking you hear is the ignition switch sending power to the starter solenoid, which may or may not be engaging all the way...

It could be a bad cell in the battery, or a low battery with not enough juice to start. be shure to check your connections on on the battery to make sure that there not loose, or corroded.

Yes, it could be this, it could be that. However, if everything works and when you try and start it you just hear clicking, try cleaning your battery terminals and cables.

It takes about 9.5 volts to start a car. You look at your cables and they look clean JUST BECAUSE YOU DON'T SEE ANY OF THAT WHITE CRAP ON YOUR CABLES - wrong. Scrap the top of a battery terminal or cable. They are made of lead. When you scrap them with a knife, you see how shiny they become. That dullness you see is enough to prevent you from getting enough voltage to start the car, but everything else works because they are not pulling high voltage.

Forget about the old trick of using Coca Cola or Baking Soda. They DO NOT clean your connections. Get a battery cleaner from your auto parts store. The one with wire cleaners. Take those cables off and clean the terminals and cables. Once you do, I'll bet it will start.

Chrysler sebring or dodge avenger?

For a first used car, what would be a better car, sebring or avenger....I know that avenger 2007 models and newer have the same platform sebring models....so which one and give details on your option, please. If you dont like one of these cars, which car would be good for a first time driver? Thanks.

Avenger.

The Sebring is monumentally awful.

I work in a chrysler dealership and I feel that the sebring is the better vehicle. They seem to be a little more reliable I know it sounds rediculous because they are the same platform but I think that the chrysler gets the better parts. By that I mean the parts that are closer to specification while the avenger since it is cheaper gets the parts that are in spec. but not in the middle so to speak. Usually you pay around a thousand more for a used sebring than an avenger. They both are two of the most reliable chrysler products on the market.

How can anyone recommend a Chrysler Sebring to anyone. Go to www.carcomplaints.com and click on Chrysler. It will state that the Chrysler Sebring has 3 times the complaints than any other Chrysler. It's the engine mostly, so even some of the Dodge's run the same engines.

Forget a Chrysler or a Dodge.

Sebring gets more luxury and a convertible.

What tools do you suggest for a 2004 Chrysler Sebring Sedan?

We are looking at getting a ball joint remover, and a spring compression tool, but there are so many companies out there. Which ones do you suggest? Again we need a ball joint remover, and a spring compression tool. Thanks!

Go to a rental company and they rent coil spring compressors, and maybe ball joint breakers.

Warning: Be very careful is removing coil springs. There is a lot of power there and if you don't have the compressor fitting tightly and it slips, that coil spring will fly out hard enough to kill anyone it hits. When you get them compressed and ot of the car, set them far away from anyone.

New tools, Look into Snap-on or Matco
rick b

snapon and matco are for professionals who use them everyday, you'd need to mortgage your house to buy them too!
check your local parts store they usually have a loaner tool option!
if not any compression tool will work , make sure to use properly, if not and coil spring pops out and say hits you in the face, if you live you'll have no face!
KingGeorge116

Autozone loans out both of them. Got it for mine. But if you are reusing the ball joint, DO NOT use a fork type seperator. This will damage the rubber boot on the joint. Usually I loosen the ball joint nut a few turns on these and then hit the knuckle with a brass or dead blow hammer, the nut will keep things from flying apart. Stay safe.

How do you replace the tail light on a 1998 Plymouth Grand Voyager?

it is the the passenger side tail light

inside the trunk area behind the lights theres an access panel. open it up and unplug the cord to the failed bulb, take the failed bulb out, put a new one in, plug it in, and put the access panel cover back on.

or, take it to the dealership and they MAY do it for free if they're not busy
Eric F

the lense cover should unscrew from inside of van beside tailgate. take totally off and bulbs are accessable! you may have a plastic liner in back of van that pops forward so you can take tail light off. nuts should be behind that, sometimes they are metal nuts sometimes they are plastic.
KingGeorge116

look at the new tail light for attachment points.

As far as I can tell from photos, it looks like there are screws that come in from the inside of the vehicle into the back of the lights. Looks like there are retaining clips too

Fast is the opposite of what you need in a first car.
drewdude320i

Why would you need to have a fast car as a first car? Most people were happy to get a perfectly running car that gets them to A and B.

for a first car no. 1. it's a Chrysler 2. it's expensive to have repaired (due to the fact it's a re bodied Mercedes-Benz SLK-32 AMG ) 3.and being that it has an AMG drive train it's way to powerful for a first car.
