With Chrysler shutting down dealerships and dealers needing to sell inventory, what will discount to MSRP be?

I'm curious to know if Chrysler dealers will be willing to take LESS than the MSRP or even below their cost in order to liquidate inventory of Chrysler cars. If so, what would be a reasonable discount to expect? This is a liquidation sale, yes?

Also, after one purchases a new Chrysler car, who will service it? Will there be any service plans to go with the car and if so, who will honor it? The next nearest Chrysler dealer that did not get shut down?

Will parts for Chrysler cars still be available in the future? My sense is that while Chrysler has declared bankruptcy, they may re-emerge after a plan of reorganization having renegotiated key contracts. Or is this a total melt-down / sale of all assets?

I have heard that the inventory markdowns will not be so much in the beginning. And as it drags on, more markdowns will be offered.

As far as a warranty? The U.S. goverment set aside 7 billion dollars for warranty repair.

As far as who is going to do the work? Yes, another dealer not affected by the shutdown will honor it.

Parts? there will always be a market for good quality parts.

I suspect a lot of these cars/trucks will be auctioned, as they are not selling well even discounted. My son-in-law bought a new Dodge pickup for an UNBELIEVABLY low price, and I must admit: it's a danged NICE truck.

Since they're not all closing down, other dealerships will have to honor Chrysler warranties, you may have to travel a little farther though. Even if they all were to shut down, by law inventories will have to be available for at least 10 yrs. I wouldn't worry about that, they'll probably be available much longer than that.
The Wiz

If you find one closing down, you will get any car they have for less than they paid. For real too....no funny business. They have like 2 weeks to move all that junk....I mean product. All the good inventory has been bought by the other dealers who are staying in business.

Usually ,such a problem happenes when the window regulator goes bad , a used one from a junk yard would cost 40-50 bucks , labor runs around $35 .
sagantoree

The regulator motor has 3 plastic dowels in the case that shatter with age.
Remove door cover
remove the motor 3-4 screws, 10mm
remove the gear cover 3 screw
replace the plastic dowels.
reassemble.
I bought a set from a junk yard new for $5 10 years ago.

We had a lot of this happen back then. The motor's brushes failed to make good contact with the armatures inside the motors. If you take a rubber mallet and with the engine running for extra voltage, hold the window button down and smack the bottom of the door just below the door panel and the motor will start working again This works about 90% of the time.
Jackolantern

If it's not the switch or motor, it's the plastic toothed regulator tape.

sounds like a electronic issue with power supply from and to the battery
Man

It's A bad ballast resistor.mounted on the fire wall.
good2go122

Could also be the ignition module on the distributor, try replacing that

You missed out leads. Are they sound? You should check their resistance if they're old. Got a multimeter? You're away. Check for 12V at the coil + while you're at it.

i have a 2006 2.4 4 cyl crysler sebring. one day at a stop sign it just shut down. it didnt make no noise.?

I heard that the timing belt needs to be replaces. Now m question is, is that something I can do? I know how to work on cars but nothing major. Would it be hard and how much labor time are we talking about? I know how much it will cost me but I was wondering how to set the timing also. Any special tools I need? Just send me more info please. Hope to have it running this weekend. Thanks for all your time...

Yes, a timing belt can do that. But there is a good chance that is not what is wrong with it. Many chrysler products have timing chains or sets and both of those are very durable.
It sounds like you don't work on cars too much. I would suggest that you take the car to a mechanic to have it diagnosed and repaired. The timing belt is fairly major and many times requires allot of time and expertise. A timing belt repair will run between $400 - 600 dollars depending on your region.
I don't think it is your timing belt most times timing belts break upon starting and not while you are just sitting there.

Before you go tearing the engine apart you must verify that it is getting spark at spark plugs,(could be a bad coil) and that it is getting fuel to the injector(could be a bad fuel pump in the gas tank), you can take the valve Cover off and check the timing belt on the end of the camshaft to see if it's broke or not. you could probably change it yourself if your careful to mark and baggie the various bolts and brackets that will have to come off. you will for sure need a cheap haynes manual for timing mark location and belt tensioner information. put a little mark on top of timing belt, bump engine with starter and see if mark has moved, if not than belt is broke, Hope i've helped a little, good luck.
Steve

If the timing belt broke, the sound of the engine while cranking would be very different than normal. Most likely much faster. Probably a sensor failure or ignition issue 80%, or a fuel system issue 20% chance. An autozone scanner should put you on the right track. if the belt broke, and it is an "interference" motor, its already too late.
scotts74birds

If it is a timing belt that broke you don't want to keep cranking the engine you are taking a chance on damaging valves and piston tops. You can remove the valve cover and see if the timing belt is still around the cam shaft.Your problem maybe in the ignition system?.Have someone help who has done this
You can get a repair manual, wrenches, sockets, timing light, torq wrench.if you take your time and read the repair manual you can do this. For your first time probably one full day maybe two depends on how good you understand the repair manual.

Early Chrysler Lease Termination?

I have a 39 month vehicle lease through Chrysler. It has been approximately 1 year and I am moving to another state. Rather than taking the vehicle with me, and I am hoping to find a few options that will save me the most money. Is it possible to take it to a place like Carmax and trade, while paying the difference? Is it easy to find someone to take over the lease with the lease trading websites? What do termination fees look like?

Asked by: j1983 @ 2009-05-21 14:20:29

Answers ::
Well it might be a lot harder since all the stuff going on with Dodge lately and the termination fee would all depend in how long into your lease agreement you are and what set penalty fees are stated , but it should tell you on your contract or call up the dealership etc.

Hope that helps and best of luck.
helpful bob

You cant trade it or sell it to Carmax or any dealer. Its not your car. You are renting it.Your only dealings are with the leasing company. There are severe penalties and fees for turning in a lease early. It will be spelled out in you lease agreement..................md

Try this link. It's these guys or write a big check. No question.
