If it has the slant six then really REALLY check out the wiring under the hood closely. Look for burning and chafing of the wires as they had a tendency to burn at one time. Other than that H-E-DOUBLEHOCKEYSTICKS YES they were great cars. Even if it had the electrical issues it would still be a good buy if it is in good condition. Wires can be easily fixed.

Those are must like the dodge darts and are good engines those slant six's.I'd be making sure that the engine is solid on it , check the oil , look for leaks etc , plus those can have really bad headache carbs, leaky rocker covers too , also check the frame and body on it bec those can really rust out there.I'd also make sure the engine mounts are solid but then you'd not buy any used vehicle unless you know it well or are fully checking it over or have it fully safety etc checked upfront but anyways those are lasting if kept up properly.

Hope that helps and best of luck.By the way nice car classic.

You should also consider that such a car may be expensive to insure. Check your insurance rates before buying one, for example here - carinsurance.deep-ice.com

If you have no plans to self maintain and improve/hop up the car then pass on it. It you are looking for a car to make a street machine or some such then it is a great car. I would not consider it for restoration at all but sure would like to make it a hot rod.
mikey

If it's got a Slant Six it's dependable as taxes, but super boring to drive.
mokume

Nice score! Now go buy a manual for it and read it. Also you should join a Mopar web forum, like www.moparforums.com Folks will have all sorts of info there to help you. See you there!

YES! the 74 Duster is a very good car. Also the 318 V8 is a very reliable engine. But It is over 30 years old, and will require more upkeep than a newer car. so be ready to wrench on it from time to time. Like I said the 318 is a good engine but if by chance you can find a 340 they SCREAM in that size of car, especially a 340 six pack.

This would be a fun car, expect 275-300 hp out of it from what I get from your description. Just make sure the parts come in at about the same rpm. I would buy it. Make sure you check the torsion bars and surrounding suspension. At that price ask him what all is wrong with it to. This will help you fix it up and enjoy it sooner. And remember not to get frustrated all cars break down, and parts wear out at the "best time".

can you put a hemi into a 2004 chrysler sebring?

Now, it has a 30 weight, 2.7L, 24 valve engine.

2.7 motors are junk and it will take a lot of work and money to put a hemi in it not worth the hassle or money.
Scott W

No, that a front wheel drive car. The engine is a rear wheel drive. The engine is too big to fit. Plus you'd have to get the computer, and the wiring harness. There is probably not a fwd transmission that would fit.
jumbobret

sure if you are a whiz at engineering
Rob knock

why would you even want to do that? lol get a better car then put a hemi in it
bomberb0

No, it wouldn't work without practically rebuilding the car from the ground up. Why would you even want to? Sebrings were voted the most boring cars of all time! Find something worthy of your Hemi, like an old hot rod with a blown motor, or something.
baymast13

If you have enough money, you can put anything in anything

The Sebring is front drive, and the front drive trans isn't strong enough for a v8..
So you will need a v8 engine, trans, drive shaft , and rear axle

you will also need an entire custom made front suspension....

As long as you are spending money, I suggest a real Hemi...

A 1969 426 crate motor, 727 torqueflite, and Dana 60 rear end.

For the front suspension, use what hotrodders call "Mustang 2 suspension"

You have to see what it is wearing.
If it has a bra, then it is a girl car.
If it has a jock strap, then it is a boy car.
If it has a wing or wings then it is a fairy car.
Old Man Dirt

My 1999 Chrysler Seabring Convertible steering column is locked up and the key won't turn?

Asked by: Timothy @ 2009-05-09 15:36:57

Answers ::
Try turning the steering wheel to one side (whatever little bit you can) and then turning the key.
Renegade99

This is common among sedans. Rock the steering wheel while moving the key. Also, if it's an automatic, make sure it's in PARK or "P"

You might want to push the button on the shifter and jostle that a bit as well.
Bob E

Your car isn't in Park.

If it is in park, you're wrong. The only other option is that your key broke off in the ignition, or you've managed to unconsciously hot-glue your column to the dash.

Otherwise, your car isn't in Park.
mr.jados

Most of the time when this happens the column is in a bind and putting pressure on the lock .Try to turn the wheel to the right or left hold it as far as it will go then turn the key if it doesn't work one way then try the other.this usually takes care of the problem on most cars.
O by the way I checked on my wife's 97 and you can't completely lock the column to remove the key so it has to be in park to have this problem.

towing a camper with my chrysler voyager?

I have a chrysler voyager 2001 with a little over 100,000 miles, with the 3.3L V6. I was thinking about buying a pop up camper do you think the can would pull it ok. My only other option is my ford ranger, but it has more miles and the 2.3L 4 cylinder. What do you think?

Asked by: Raven @ 2009-05-10 19:28:53

Answers ::
yes your voyager should be fine with that size camper. check your tongue pulling capacity prior to going out to buy anything then just make sure you stay under your limit. Ask how many tons it is when you are shopping. Your ranger will not be good enough save it for something else.
ejbuttons

That really depends on the weight of the trailer. Check the tow capacity of both and lead towards the light side when choosing a trailer given the mileage on your vehicles. Given just the curb weight of your Ranger, the small engine size and the mileage your Voyager is a better option for trailer towing. A vehicle pulling a trailer at or near the capacity tends to handle poorly, sway a lot, and not brake well. Your Voyager has a trailer towing capacity of 1800# but that is with a proper hitch/bumper. The "tongue weight" needs to be considered. That is the weight of the trailer directly on the ball of the hitch. This will be stamped on your bumper or receiver hitch. With your Voyager you can haul an 1800# trailer maximum but make sure you are not over on tongue weight. Again, all lean towards the lighter side of trailers because you will be giving your engine a workout and it will struggle, as will your brakes and suspension. Here is a link to show the tow capacity of your Voyager. http://www.carsdirect.com/research/specs?cat=6&make=CD&modelid=2109&acode=USB10CDV011A0&year=2001

Take care and happy camping!
Jim

it works on the formula of not exceeding 85% of the towing cars kerb weight ,so yes you should be fine, just find the weight of the pop up camper colin.
Colin

I'd definitely go with the Voyager. Rangers are designed for light loads, not heavy-duty pulling. As has already been mentioned, pay attention to your van's towing capacity, and don't push it.
