is 93 chrysler lebaron convertible a good car?

Question 1
is 93 chrysler lebaron convertible a good car?...  my dad thinking about getting one for me is it any good?

Answers
1)   no - Scrambles

2)   They were popular convertible cars in the 90's. The better engines were the 3.0 V-6 and the base 4 cyl. The turbocharged engines cost more to maintain and many 2 or 3rd owners did not spend the money to maintain them. As ALL used cars, it mostly depends on how the last owner kept it up. Test drive it and see how the trans shifts, any unusual noises, does it pull to the left or right, and do the a/c and power items (windows, top, locks) works. If these things are fine, then it may be worth buying. They are fairly easy to work on and generally ok. - C-Tech

3)   NO, stay with 1996 or newer vehicle. You want/need OBDII for a young driver. The 93 Lebaron is just rife with difficulties and more time consuming involved diagnostics. There are some pretty expensive parts that routinely fail in these OBDI Chrysler/Plymouth/Dodge vehicles and you just don't need that.

Sci, 96 T&C, 95 (OBDII) and 98 Neons - sci

4)   Bear in mind, it's a car that is already 17 years old. Probably with high mileage. Get ready for some expenses. - badbill1941

5)   run away from this as fast as you can. Lebarons were not a good car even new. - ClarkL

6)   All I can say is " I love mine " !!
Granted any used car can
have inheritable problems.
If in doubt, take a trusted mechanic
to check out the problems and
perhaps do some trouble shooting.
This can help in price negotiations.
Mine was used and needed the
front oil seal replaced and will need
the top replaced eventually.
Bargain chips in my favor.
Best of all, mine was a one owner
before me. Turquoise/White top,
Great on gas, Drives like a dream. - iambettyboop

7)   You should also consider that such a car may be expensive to insure. Check your insurance rates before buying one, for example here - carquotes.sinfree.net - Sam

Question 3
What is meant by intercooled engines?...

Answers
1)   It means there is a heat exchanger (cooler) install between (inter) between the turbo/super charger and the intake manifold. - Old Man Dirt

2)   Well as i understand it an inter-cooler is an additional part to a turbo charged engine system where the exhaust gas is used to drive/ run a tribune that takes clean air and stuffs more air and fuel mixture in too the engine cylinders; thus resulting in a significant increase in horse power an additional benefit is to use an inter-cooler to cool the mixture before it enters the engine, this creates a denser fuel air mixture that results in even more power increases (an inter-cooler is like an air conditioner for the fuel air mixture before it enters the cylinders/engine to simplify things) PS: I AM NOT A MECHANIC LOL JUST KNOW A LITTLE ABOUT CARS AND I LOVE POWER/SPEED - BIGDADDY911

3)   An intercooled engine has what amounts to a radiator for the air that is forced into the engine from either a turbocharger or supercharger. The idea is to reduce the temperature of the air entering the engine to reduce the chance of detonation, which can cause complete engine failure. - Sean

4)   Anku, The turbocharger compresses the air going into the intake but this also heats the air causing it to expand. The inter-cooler cools it back down while leaving it compressed so you can get more air into the engine. The first year that Dodge came out with Diesel, it didn't have inter-cooling. But shortly after, they all had inter-cooling. - Jackolantern

Question 4
My engine is bad in my 2002 chrysler sebring and it has a 2.4 dohc in it and i was needing to know what other?...  years of this engine would work ive found chrysler sebring engines from 95-04 but not a 2002.

Answers
1)   If you need to replace the engine, then get the 2.7L V6 it is the stock engine on the LXI model. But be aware, that it can fail from oil sludge so if you change it regularly and use all synthetic oil, then you should be fine. - Adam

2)   Look into the details a bit more, there's more than 1 car that shares that engine. It's possible that the Neon or PT Cruiser might have the same engine, or it could be the Mitsubishi derived 2.4, in which case you could look for a similar engine in an Eclipse or Galant. - Sean

3)   Where do these guys come from? SLUDGE???!!!!!

The local salvage yard has a book that will tell you every vehicle that you can source that motor from to yours. This is the definitive answer and the one we all use in the industry. Call one and get the answer.

Question 5
checking fluids on my 300 and found something?...  what is a miller tool and why do i need it to fill my anti freeze level

Answers
1)   A miller tools is a brand name tool . You don't need a special tool to top up your anti-freeze. Just a funnel and a cool engine. - DONNY G

2)   Miller is a company that makes specialty tools for Chrysler Corp. I think you just put coolant into the over-flow tank. Check with your owners manual. - badbill1941

3)   you need a funnel that adapts to the radiator cap mount of the radiator so you can have your reservoir directly feeding the radiator. There are several bleeders around the engine that must be openned to let air out while this reservior fills in behind. Find your MATCO Tool Man and get one for 20 bucks- you will love it
