how is chrysler claiming bankruptcy an economic issue?

What other possible "issue" other than "economic" can justify filing for Chapter 11?
LeAnne
With all the job cuts in every industry, housing foreclosures, and banks not lending I don't know what else it could be.
Unemployed people losing their homes generally don't have 30k in CASH laying around.

jacqueline, where have u been this past year? the banks weren't/aren't lending any money, and dealerships require money to buy a car...with no money coming in, that becomes an "economic issue"...
junkyarddogfan
Hi, J.C. Besides what the others have told you . . .If they hadn't filed for bankruptcy relief, they probably wouldn't have had enough money to continue daily operations at their plants. This bky also allow them time to complete the sale/merger with Fiat. (No, the Chrysler, Dodge and Jeep names will continue).
Dave
They will say anything and everything to "SELL OUT". This shows you how the current administration deals with issues. Screw US companies that own Chrysler's debt (local companies that invested in Chrysler) and pawn the entire company to a foreign entity. Even the UAW wants to pawn their share to FIAT. Shows you that administration and UAW has no interest in saving Chrysler, just make it someone else's problem and continue to screw the corporation. This is just begining.

If I neutral drop my 727 tranny will it explode?
Some trannys can take a punishment....Can the mopar 727 handle neutral high reving drops?

Why would you do it anyway?
Nickyo
Immediate damage can be cause to any tranny by shock loading it like that. I don't know why anyone would need to neutral drop unless their motor has no power and their doing this to spin the tires and don't care about their car. It could probably take the shock a few times but I wouldn't get to carried away until I had a driveshaft gaurd installed and god willing the converter doesn't explode and send shrapnal into your brain.
Leeanne is wrong, transmission torque converters have been known to explode, go right through the bellhousing and kill occupants of the vehicle. I've seen it happen with a 69 Beumont and a very unlucky dude at a 100 foot shoot out.
Serial Stunter
It won't "explode" - but the results of a neutral, high revving drop could well make your 727 - as well as any automatic transmission - look like it exploded, especially internally.
Don't you ever wonder why the engineers programmed the newer vehicles so they won't go into gear when the computer senses engine rpm above a certain limit in neutral or park?
LeAnne
What are you trying to accomplish? It will likely blow apart eventually, a better logic would be to stall the engine while holding the brakes before launching, this gives you the most torque that the engine and trans (torque converter stall ) will provide. If you don't break the trans doing neutral drops, the u-joints of rear diff. will likely explode.

facts about chrysler?
Does anyone know any interesting facts about the Chrysler auto industry or about walter chrysler?

Walter P Chrysler was a dynamic man. He began his working career as a machinist for the railroad industry in the 1880's, and in 1900 when the horseless carriage was becoming a bit more popular, he borrowed money to buy his first one. He totally dismantled it, and learned how it worked. Then he eventually left the railroad industry to work as a mechanic in the auto industry. Eventually he moved up the ranks and became the president of a couple of automotive companies. His big time happened in 1920 when he became the president of the Maxwell Motor company. By 1924 he bought the company and renamed it Chrysler. The rest as they say is history.
There are many good websites out there with his history.

There are more, but that's a good solid start.
Beyond Walter P, the Chrysler corporation has enjoyed a heritage of many engineering developments. In the late 50's and early 60's they reached a zenith with groundbreaking styling and other features which eventually became the norm with other makes. They were heavily invested in the space program too. Chrysler developed a lot of the R&D that went into the rocket engines.
I have a shameless plug to give you here. This is the work and the pride & joy of a handful of volunteers. Hopefully you can get some images and history form it:

Walter Chrysler got his first auto job working for Buick, and before he left GM he'd made it all the way to the presidency of the Buick division.

on the low psi side of the compreser most of the time the low psi side has a blue cap

well if you were to put freon in the vehicle it would go on the low side however this is still an R-12 system and needs to be retrofitted to R-134A if it hasnt already. My suggestion would be if you dont know where to put the refrigerant you dont know what you are doing take it and pay a qualified tech to do the job right for you
bowtiessuck
If you can't even spell "free-on" it's better to let somebody else do the work. Take it to a shop before you really screw something up.
Captain Awesome
First of all Freon is illegal to put in your system anymore.
There is a new gas that is used, it is also illegal to vent this into the air due to the clean air acts.
Now I know that you can buy the charging kits at most automotive stores. they include cans of the new gas. hoses and connectors, if you know about cars you know where the air conditioner is and can find the lines. on thes lines you will find the connectors that the hoses connect too. there is a high side and a low side. you really need to know which is which. so consult a book or manual. The hose is connected to the low side, start the car and turn on the system allow the gases to enter the system and have someone monitor if the air is getting cooler. the man on the outside need to listen for leaks because it is useless to continue if system is leaking and a waste of money. If no leaks continue to add gas to system until air comes out cold . Disconnect the lines recap the fitting. properly discard the cans. keep the hoses and connectors, and enjoy your cool air.

The Chrysler PT Cruiser was launched by Chrysler as a retro-styled wagon in 2000 and as a convertible in 2005. Originally conceived as a Plymouth model, the PT Cruiser received the Chrysler nameplate on introduction — in anticipation of the 2001 discontinuation of the Plymouth brand. The PT Cruiser was designed by Bryan Nesbitt, who also styled the Chevrolet HHR.
