Is the crysler sebring convertable generally good car? My dad wants to get it for my first car...?

My dad found a white 2004 chrysler Sebring convertable and he really likes it and wants to buy it for me for my first car, it's a good deal around 8000 and is in great shape. Im in drivers ed at this time and will be able to drive with my temps in two days. Is it a generaly hearty car? with minor problems. I need to know because I want to feel safe in the car I get and we have pretty nasty winters but really hot summers so I like the idea that the top goes down but will it safice in the winter?

Thank you.
Here is a picture off of google that looks almost the same, the second picture looks exactly like it but I also had to get a pic with the top up for an example.

Oh and it has Very low miles on it.
Other wise my other choice was a mustang around 5000 or a red sport car, looks like a charger kinda but I don't remeber what it was called lol, and that is around 9000. I get too choose which. Really nice shape, low miles on all of them.

8000 dollars for a 2004 idk doesnt sound so good
but the covertable will be Fun 4 ya!!! : )
Dang-God Didnt say Lifes rated R

I think that would be a great 1st car.

truth is chrysler hasnt made a good car in like 40 yrs just take a look around you while driving in town you dont see many is a reason but if you must follow a used car check list which you can get by typing into search box how to check used car
then decide if thats what you want or not by checking it for signs of problems and driving it

if the previous owner did the required maintenance, and kept the oil changed, and you do the same, it will last you untill you get tired of it....

You should also consider that such a car may be expensive to insure. Check your insurance rates before buying one, for example here - autoinsurance.noneto.com

I have a black 1997 Sebring and I love it! But insurance is a factor for you such as your so young. It also depends on your grade point average in school. Check the history on any repairs and be sure to get an extended warranty for when you need to replace the transmission at around 95,000 miles. :) But yeah, go for the convertible if you can swing it. Try to work them on the price though. If they want to sell it, they'll wheel and deal.

1991 Chrysler New Yorker died while driving?? Please help?

Car has a full tank of gas, just died going the highway for no reason. I know its not the starter. Car will not even try to turn over, can anyone help??

pump out the gas and leave the car. It may be worth more than the car itself

I'd check the fuses under the hood in the fuse box and the relays on it , plus try to boost it too.

Hope that helps and best of luck.By the way bec that vehicle is a 91 I'd try to have someone check it's charging system , plus clean the battery power junctions , alternator , starter , engine block ground and all the grounds , one by one.

If it will not turn over, check the fuses. You may have a bad ASD relay or a bad PCM.
C-Tech

Does it have oil in it? If not, it's finished.

check all hot and ground wires,my truck did the same thing and come to find out the hot wire going to my starter was laying on the engine block and got hot melted the coating and was shorting itself out, check all connections at the battery also could be corroded.

i need your opinion!?

i recently bought a 1993 Plymouth Laser DSM, for those of you who dont know what that is - its basically a Mitsubishi Eclipse...
anyway, i got the car from a friend for $400, but it runs great and no problems, except there is some body damage, and a busted up windshield.. Well, im thinking of buying another one strictly for parts for only $500 -- this one is in imaculant condition, excpet the computer is blown. I need your opinion! should i buy the other one for new fenders, hood, windshield, wheels, tires, seats, sidemirror, liftback, rear bumper, and so many other things....? Also.. heres a link to the type of car i have, but of course much nicer :P

I'd say yes, if you have the room for an extra car. The parts could come in handy, and the car you have would be able to be better too. Plus 900 overall isn't bad for a good running car.
Cookehz

Sounds like a pretty good parts car for 500....See if the computers will interchange If not it might be the wiring harness is different see if an adaptor is available at local parts store

One of the best things that any used vehicle can do is have a handy parts car bec it saves tons of cash and headaches and it makes it much easier for trouble shooting even at times.
I might try fixing up the second car bec if all it really needs is another main comp=PCM the two vehicles probably have compatible comps anyways, plus the PCM wouldn't be very expensive if you went to a U pick auto wreckers just be sure that the vehicle has the same engine and transmission and same features , plus I'd pick up the transmission module=TCM.

Hope that helps and best of luck.By the way I'd check the two vehicles over toothe and nail then make up my mind what car to use as the parts vehicle. Also 93 , 94 and 95's probably are all the same when it comes to the comps used in them , also a wreckers could tell you if in fact they are quite interchangeable and what parts are exactly the same.

id fix the parts car,the white one if id have to try the auto parts stores for there reman controllers usually about $350.

i want to buy a sebring 2002?

its got 20thous kilometers on it, its real clean looks brand new, is 20 thousand alot of miles for a 2002? its fully loaded to and 1 owner. been parked in garage through winters . they also said it was a limited Edition only a few were made with the spoiler and bigger tires at the time. the lady is selling it because she no longer can drive no other reason then that. im just not good with how many kilometers should be on a car each year. The car was made april 2002 if anyone wants to know. has sunroof, duel Alarm system, anti theft deterrent , seat covers so no pollution or Debi's on Original seating, and metallic dashboard, nice car.Kilometers is my concern here
was not a old lady or man who drove it she is in her 30s. takes care of her stuff she said. she drove a winter beater in the winter, not the sebring

As long as it doesn't have the 2.7 lt. engine you're fine. Do not by that car if it has that engine!! You slack on changing the oil and that motor will self destruct. It's not that hard to fix, but you're not a mechanic so it will cost dearly. Other than that, the car sounds like s good find... Good luck.

Most cars get about 15000-20000 miles per year... so an average 2002 Sebring would have 100,000-140,000 miles

Sometimes too little mileage can be just as harmful as too much, if they aren't driven enough, seals and rubber parts dry out, exhaust systems rust, as do internal engine parts...

However if regular maintenance has been done, and it was driven EVERY summer.. it should be fine....If you buy it , replace all four tires and brake pads even if they look new, unless they have been replaced in the last three years....
Sophie B

20 Thousand for an 02 is actually good. The only thing you would need to do to make it run good would be to change all the spark plugs to champion double platinums which are the oem spark plugs and they will last for 100k miles.

Take it to your nearest automotive facility such as pepboys etc.. and have them do a fuel system cleaning.

Do a power steering and brake fluid exchange NOT FLUSH....

And you're set to ride. I don't know why people put in their own 2 cents if it makes no sense but why would u change brake pads if they've been on there for 3 years or more? You would just change the brake fluid.

Second, rubber seals don't go bad overtime or dry up because most the rubber seals are either greased or inside fluids like brake fluid and steering fluid etc.. so just change the fluids and you're fine

Im an ASE certified tech 31 years old and working on cars since I was 17. I have the 02 sebring convertible with the 2.7L engine. Just put in synthetic oil and you dont have to worry bout changing the oil till between 5 and 7k miles. Plus it helps prolong the life of the engine.

Good Luck

new spark plugs, bring it to an auto place for a tune up.
Mitch

Take it in. If that doesn't work, dump it and get a Kia Sedona or Mazda MPV instead.

Diesel Voyager?

Cool diesel voyager, never heard of it, but anyway a diesel is a diesel. You may want to have the injectors and or injector pump looked at. It sounds like you have a leaking injector or your pump timing is off
Good Luck
