5)   i gotta go with the chrysler because not only does it have the better looks to me but its got more power. I think the BMW tops out at 300 horses and the mercedes somewhere around 260 horses. With the 300C you get 350 horses and the hemi has MDS to shut down to a 4cylinder. Plus i have never been a fan of BMWs' style they all look alot alike. - Matt S

Question 2
chrysler 440 magnum engine (1970)...what is the miles per gallon?...  this engine is stock w/ a 4 barrel carb....does it need a lead substitute?

Answers
1)   Depending on the exact version these got about 10 to 12 MPG highway, 8 to 10 MPG. Back when premium gas was 25 cents per gallon they didn't really care much about fuel mileage. They just stuck a bigger fuel tank in the car.

Personally I would not bother with lead substitute. It has been running for about 30 years on unleaded fuel. Unleaded fuel is not as hard as you think on these old engines. I personally know a few people who have cars from the 60's that run them with unleaded fuel without any problems. If I were you I would run the car on unleaded premium fuel, mostly because of the high compression ratio. The next time the engine is overhauled replace the valves and seats with hardened versions. - Mad Jack

2)   not very good, 6 to 9 mpg also depends on how heavy the car ,and rear end ratio, but i like the motors, lot of power and hard to blow up, use to run a 440 at the drag strip - Phil

3)   it depends the car it was in (weight) and gearing

in an Imperial - perhaps 10

In a Fury - perhaps 14

In a GTX - perhaps 16

In a Challenger - perhaps 17 - roadrunner426440

4)   I would figure 8-10 mpg. in town. I would add 1 bottle of octane booster for each full tank of gas. - badbill1941

Question 4
Where can I buy a speed sensor for a 1998 Chrysler Neon?...  I am trying to find a replacement speed sensor for my 1998 Chrysler Neon LX. So far haven't had any luck. If anyone could recommend phone numbers of wreckers or spare parts stores or websites to look at that would be great.

Answers
1)   try ur local phone book under junkyard /salvage yard etc........if u cannot find any search ebay.........

then if all else fails go to ur local parts store and ask about their salvage program........autozone advanve auto oreilly's and others offer it.....basically its a nation wide salvage u pay for part + shipping and 10-15 prct .....so cheaper if u can find it ureself... - Karle

2)   Have you tried the dealer to see how expensive it is? - badbill1941

3)   Just go to the local dealer and buy a new one that you know will work instead of taking your chances buying a used one. It should be around $50 at the dealer, possibly less if you want to buy an aftermarket one from the local parts stores.

I wouldn't even consider a used sensor (among other parts I'd never buy used), too high a risk of getting another bad one and having to take the time and waste gas going after another one, possibly more than once. Just not worth wasting the time and money for chasing a small, inexpensive part. - Mark B

4)   Go to the Chrysler dealer. - Two Lane. 455 Rocket.
