After a wreck, my Chrysler Pacifica lost all power... any help?... I was in a head on collision a couple days ago. I was going 35-45 mph when I hit another car. My driver, passenger, and knee air bags deployed. My car was damaged in the front. As soon as the wreck happened, the car shut off and all the power was off except for the inside lights. They came on but was flashing. When we took the grille, bumper, and radiator off, you could see a group of wires had been smashed between the radiator support and frame of the car. We pulled it apart and checked all the wires, none of them was cut. We unhooked the battery for several hours and tried hooking it back up and the only thing that came on was the lights on the DVD player where you insert the disk. They was flashing. Nothing else would work. I do not know if there is some type of safety switch that would cut off everything or if this is a computer or electrical problem. I did not have full coverage so I am trying to repair the vehicle myself. Any suggestions or help? Thank you! Kim

1) I believe there is a failsafe in the airbag control module which prevents the car from starting. It needs to be replaced or reset. Without dealer equipment I'm not sure how to reset it.
It's not an electrical problem it's a feature/function of your car to prevent the car from running while the airbags are deployed. - Hank Scorpio
2) you're seriously going to try and repair a car like that? have fun, not only will that car never be the same, but you will never have any airbags to save your life the next time you fall asleep at the wheel. - Greg
3) Also keep in mind that vehicle might legally need a salvage/rebuilt title even if you get it running upto specifications w/ airbags, etc, and some insurance co's wont insure them.
There's likely more damage than you think if you we going a minimum of 35 in a head-on accident. I assume the other vehicle was going a min of 25. That's like you hitting a bridge abutment @ 50.
That "smashed group of wires" are likely unreliable due to insulation damage.
You dint post the year or mileage of the car, but even a well-rebuilt vehicle w/ a salvage/rebuilt title will be worth about 1/2 it's book value.
Sorry, but I think there are too many complications here for a Do It Youself repair. - Re_auto_mated
4) You will most likely need a wiring harness and tha integrated power module, fusebox (IPM). - C-Tech

Question 2
How much is a 1993 Plymouth Voyager worth...?... that doesn't run. it's most likely the fuel pump thats wrong with it. just needs some tlc and it'll run fine. how much is it worth on craigslist if the other person has to tow it?
the fuel pump is worth about $80 new.
Pick and Pull said about $195, so i'm thinking more than that on craigslist
Answers
1) Local wrecking yards in my area are paying $130 per ton for any complete vehicle.
So I'd say a 1993 voyager that doesn't run is worth about $200-$300 minus the towing fee.
Seriously, the vehicle is worth less than a fuel pump. - SmartA$$
2) Without knowing the engine, mileage and general condition of the vehicle it is hard to say, but I would say that the van has limited value if it does not run. Those vans were known for transmission problems, and if it is not running, there is no way to test the transmission.
In the current condition it is worth around $200
To check to see if the problem is the fuel pump, spray starter fluid into the air intake and try to start the van. If it starts but quits quickly, it is a fuel problem. - fire4511
3) $250 - doane_nut

Question 3
98 Chrysler electrical mystery problem. Can you diagnose?... My 98 Chrysler Town & Country minivan has a very elusive electrical starting problem.
99 percent of the time it works fine but every once in a while when you go to start it after having turned it off (usually at a very inconvenient place) you get absolutely no response(no sound,no clicking) when you turn the key to start it. When this happens the instrument panel gages are all flatlined(no power to them), however other electrical works (radio, heater windows lights etc.). I've had the ignition switch replaced and that wasn't it. Battery, starter etc.all ok.
Curiously, it always seems to start right up again when you try it later on after a couple hours.
It is such a sporadic problem that I can't get anyone to pin it down.
Your ideas would be appreciated.

3) I believe your relay for the starter solenoid has dirty contacts or is failing, (personal experience) find the rely clean the plug ends and tap the relay on a hard surface then re-install it if this does not help, then
try cleaning all the relays.... water damage can cause this for instance did you recently use a motor cleaner pressure washer? - matt
