Question 2
1994 chrysler lebaron 3.0L. Harmonic balancer / pulley assembly bolt. Does it have left or right hand threads?...

Answers
1)   It should be a right hand thread. Every harmonic balancer bolt I have pulled has been right handed. - Mike

2)   right hand threads. - badbill1941

3)   having a hard time getting that bolt out?

I had to buy an electric impact gun to get that bolt out of my 3.0 daytona. I just kept turning the motor over and didn't have anyway to keep it from rotating. - inmyshadow

4)   All bolts and nuts on the 3.0L are right hand fasteners. You can get the big bolt loose by using a socket on a break over with an extension and let the extension handle come in contact with the lower part of the car frame assembly on the passenger's side and hit the starter. - Jackolantern

1)   Your muffler bearings are shot. - Nate

2)   you need pro help/can be number of things/afm/ecm/egr/fuel pump etc/dont keep throwing parts at it/can get expensive and still not fix it - ken k

3)   We need more information. I can suggest going to a parts store, like Autozone, where they will read the engine computer codes for free. - C-Tech

4)   Hi Fyebyrd,

This could be several issues. Could be a timing issue, in which case you will need a new timing belt. Another timing issue could be coming from a bad Cam Sensor. If your car 'surges' like my 96 Concorde with a 3.5, at 50 km/h (30 mph), the rpms will drop to 750 then surge up to 1200 and continue until I get up to 60 km (40 mph), then it could be a bad Throttle Position Sensor. Could also be problems with your ECM, there is a whole pile of other things this could be. As another answerer said, take it to your parts store and have them do a diagnostic on it, it will give you all the trouble codes and then you can repair them. If your dad or boyfriend/husband has a code reader, make them feel needed and ask them to do it for you.
I say "give me an old fashioned points and condenser system where the engine has only a dozen wires going to it and I'm happy" Gotta love engineers! - Mike

Question 4
baracuda Longitudinal Stripe "please help"?...  i'm restoring my 1971 Baracuda and it originally had a Longitudinal stripe and i can't find it anywhere. if you know of a website that carries this stripe please help

thanks.

Answers
1)   Year One. I assume you mean the Billboard stripe. Year One has them for the 340, 383, 440, and HEMI logo. About $230.

On the left-hand side of the page find Catalog Links then click Mopar A/B/E bodies. Then click Stripes and Decals - Mad Jack

2)   Yeah, check Year One and even Phoenix Graphics. - done wrenching

3)   I don't remember the Barracuda ever having a longitudinal stripe other than maybe a double pinstripe, but anyway try http://phoenixgraphix.com/, they may have it.

The '70 Challenger R/T had a longitudinal stripe if it was so ordered. - Don't know everything !

Question 5
Help me fix my Chrysler 300m(transmission in limp-mode)?...  Vehicle: 1999 Chrysler 300m 3.5L HO. Auto-stick

Back a couple of years ago, I had transmission problems that ended up calling for a new one. At the time I didn't know about limp-mode or changing out the speed sensors. I admit, I was retarded and took it to the dealership. But it fixed the problem so I was happy. Until I started getting the same problems.

Fast forward to "just past" the warranty on the transmission, and I started getting limp mode again. So I went out and bought two new speed sensors. Got one changed out (the other is blocked by my exhaust I believe), and when I pulled the old one out, the nipple was covered with what I assume is trans fluid and metal shavings. VERY FINE metal shavings, more like a metal powder. First thing I assume is that metal shavings = bad transmission = more financial rape from the dealership. If I have to buy a new transmission, I'm selling the car for scrap.

Anyway, is there a chance that the junk may NOT be metal? or could it be a result of the transmission breaking in? If this is the case, I'm thinking if I can change out the fluid and filter, then it should fix things. Here's where the issues (and my question) REALLY begin..

Its been quite a while since its even been looked at. I just parked it and left it. I am looking to spend about 300 dollars trying to fix it, and if it doesn't fix it, and I have to buy a new transmission again, I wasted that initial 300.. This money will go for a new ignition switch, battery, trans, oil, and air filters, fluids, and other stuff that it may need to get running again. Is there a chance that replacing the fluid and filter (and sensors) will fix the transmission problems, or is it safe to assume its shot and not worth fixing?

Answers
1)   the material on the sensor is normal. I see this all the time. There is always a bit of fine steel shavings on the speed sensor. Next you need to find out why it is in limp in mode. Go to a shop that can communicate with the TCM and find out what the code is. Then tell me what it is and I can point you in the right direction. Most of the limp in conditions are some sort of electrical problem and not a dead transmission. Save yourself some money and have it diagnosed first before slapping parts at it. I deal with this situation every day and I always advocate finding out what is wrong first before you start guessing. That could get real expensive. - Mike J

2)   Just a suggestion, you don't have to necessarily take it to the dealership. You could try reputable places like Amaco. When our 02 Sebring started jumping or hunting, they replaced the solenoid for cheap. Also, if you live in a midsized city with auto groups, start searching for a different Chrysler dealer. we have five in our area, but we go to a family run auto dealership whose only dealer is a Chrysler jeep dodge dealer. Always great service. - Complover
