2)   a lot cheaper than now , since the grinding started....your brake shoes are shot, so the bare caliper is grinding down your rotor....so they'll prolly tell you a new rotor for both sides, new calipers and new shoes...

why was i so stupid to buy a Chrysler?...  Town and Country minivans have been around forever you would think they'd figure out how to build them by this point, but no. I have one with 40k miles which is in the process of having its 3rd auto transmission installed. Wow now that's that American craftmanship so many are so proud of. Next time it's a Honda or Toyota for me.

2)   Unfortunately, Town and Country minivans are notorious for having issues. In my opinion, Chrysler has dropped the ball quite a bit in the past few decades. Hopefully they get back on track. - subaru360lover

3)   Agreed, My dad owns a Chrysler Voyager which is basically the predecessor to the Town and Country.
He has ALWAYS had problems with it and complains about how often it craps out and how often he has to get it fixed. - brian_van_pham

4)   My mom has a '97 Town & Country with almost 170k miles, and the transmission has never been rebuilt. There are several other people in my neighborhood with T&C vans, and they haven't had transmission problems. What exactly is the problem with your trans? Are the clutch packs wearing out? 5)   I have owned Chryslers since 1985 and they have always been the most reliable cars to me, I have never owned a town and country but had a 1990 Voyager and it ran like new with 200K on it when I sold it. Sorry to hear of your problems, thats werid 3 bad transmissions. If it is on the 3rd time being fixed I think you can use the lemon law and have that vehicle replaced, if you bought it new with a warranty from the dealer, that is. - Stampy Skunk

6)   I don't think anyone is stupid for buying a minivan since 1984. It's view of the road, family comfort and closeness were unique and second to none. I bought one in 1984 from a nice woman who just lost her young husband, had 3 children, and was throwing the van away. I fixed it, paid her for it, and gave it back to her. If you had a problem with your transmission, and a Chrysler dealer has installed 3 transmissions in it for the 100.00 deductible, I am sorry. The reason is not poor craftsmanship, but poor service. There is no Honda or Toyota made that I would feel as safe in with children inside. I hope you find something your happier with. The only time I've even heard of 3 trans replacements in 40,000 miles was from a specialized transmission repair shop. The Parts manager asked me to look at this 3rd trans and he had a tear in his eye. All of us especially the customer hated this situation and the little wire connector that needed repair was no ones fault. But another customer lost. Maybe the new Fiat-Chrysler (have you seen the new logo) will be better than all of them. But I think using petrol for energy, has to change for anyone to lead the industry in the proper direction. Is this the last year Chrysler is making PT Cruisers?...  I have one and planned to get a new one at some point. I love mine! Had it five years and no major problems so far.

1)   I live with a car enthusiast - he watches things like Motor Week and visits "Left Lane News" website daily. I know he mentioned the PT Cruiser recently and I thought he said that Chrysler will stop making them....but I just asked him and he said that they were going to stop making them but Fiat (who merged with Chrysler) decided to continue making them because of the low production costs. So, I guess the answer is no - the PT Cruiser will continue to be made. - Paul L

2)   On July 6, 2009, Chrysler Group LLC changed its decision to discontinue the model and will continue to make the model past 2009.

3)   The Charger/Challenger, and maybe the Viper, will probably continue as they are for a while, but the smaller models will likely be replaced by Fiat- or Alfa-based cars. I expect Dodge trucks and vans will be mostly unchanged. - Windowphobe

4)   Americans no nothing about the Fiat brand. I seriously doubt the buying public will purchase a Fiat, until a better story is told about its reputation as a stand up car company. If Fiat can get over the hump, then the buying public will examine and purchase. The recent cash for clunkers program benefitted Ford. GM and Chrysler did not improve their position in the market because of their product line. My point is this. Their are a lot of steps that need to be taken to trust a new brand, whose reputation has not been shall we say, stellar in the area of quality. At least not in America, the same can be said for Chrysler. Chrysler's car division has had quality problems that are still in memory. The new company has some heavy lifting in front of them. Having said that, styling should be a fashionable plus with the cars. The light duty truck division is fine and remains competitive among its peers with a decent reputation. 1997 Sebring blowing cold air from heater?...  I drive a 1997 Chrysler Sebring convertible and recently the tachometer started becoming slow to start. I will start the car and it stays at zero for a few minutes but eventually it kicks on and works fine the rest of the time the car is running. Tonight the heater began blowing cold air. They may be unrelated issues, but I'm not sure. I recently replaced the thermostat and the radiator fan because I was having overheating problems (the fan was dead). There is plenty of antifreeze in the tank so I dont think its just simply because I'm short any. What might be the problem? And how can I fix it?

1)   Have no idea about the Tach but i will find out for you. But with the blowing cold air. Need more info did you have heater on at the time or was it off and you could feel a little air from vents? R u sure it was set all th way to heat and A/C was off? And when when you repl t-stat did you bleed the system or just top it off??? email me with ibfo and i will get answer about tach kmp1171@att.net - kmp1171

2)   sounds to me like you have an air pocket in the system, this will cause these problems, you need to bleed the cooling system and that should fix the heat problem,sounds like the tach maybe shot also, - columbusmopar

3)   Also check the thermostat temp could have a low temp u might need to get. Hi temp xpecially incold states - kool2shade

4)   you need to get your heater core checked - Hart
