Ben
the only difference i can think of is that the touring has alloy rims, base model doesn't
David A
The Touring model is just more upscale with more standard equipment and more options available for it.
Terrence B
The basic edition has cloth seats and no head rests for the back seat. The basic edition also comes with 15" steel wheels with hubcaps.

Who does my car sound like I'm driving over train tracks?
I have a 97 Chrysler Sebring (drop top) the check engine light has been on for almost a year. I had no money to fix it? But kept the oil changes current. A tune up would run me $500 because they said the spark plugs are located behind the engine. Well, it's started running like Im driving over train tracks---it's SOOOO Loud and awful sounding. What could this be? Would a tune up fix it?
I meant "Why"
Yes---it gets louder and clankier as I speed up and softens as I slow down. It sounds like its coming from the front right wheel area...bent axle maybe? I know nothing about t he cars past--Im borrowing it from a friend temp. but I dont want them thinking I've mad their car worst. It was given to me in this shape---but the noise has gotten increasingly louder.

[Best Answer]Yes it could be a axle or CV Joint and if you dont get it looked at ASAP you and your car could be up close and personal with a power poll or another car and both of you dead.
And leason learned had you had that check engine light checked out right away you may have learned that the ABS speed sensor was out on that part of the axle do to a worn hub bearing and now since you have let it go, that noise is the hub bearing coming apart, now you may have to change the Hub, axle, and hub knuckle. Lots of money
A tune up? NOPE

Unfortunately your Sebring has a Neon engine. The only true way to fix that is buy a Chevy or even a Ford. That is as honest as it gets.

describe loud and awful sounding? where is the noise coming from? do you hear it all the time or just when moving? does the noise seem to change when you change the steering wheel? does it get louder when you step on the gas? is it a constant noise? does it ever get quieter? if so when... there could be a million things wrong with it... best bet is to take it to a mechanic and have them do a diagnostic on it and go from there... good luck.

If the sound is coming from the engine like that, no tune up will fix it. When did you get the timing belt replaced? That will make an awful sound if it's ready to go. I could be some internal components ready to go.

It might be that your wheel bearing is bad and need replacement, get an auto mechanic to check this for you, or better still get a proper diagnostic check to be 100% sure. Moreover do all you can to take good care of the car or else the purpose of the loan would be defeated.

Can someone tell me if a 2000 Chrysler 300m is a good car?

It's reliable as long as you do the maintenance.

I recently rented a Chrysler, it was almost brand new with only 1,300km on it. It looks really cool, its a very comfortable car but when it comes to handling, it is not at all impressive, on the highway when I wanted to change lanes the car's weight would actually shift in such a way that I could feel the lane change, it is not a car to be driven at high speeds. All in all I would recommend it renting for a day and driving before you buy it to see if it rocks your boat.

any car is good if you do the schedule maintnance ( oil change, regular check up) but if you want a reliable car, i wouldnt go with a chrysler.. since the company isnt to good right now ( if they declare bankruptcy, ur car wont be worth much and parts that need replacement would be hard to find due to the company not manufacturering anymore). personally i wouold go with any japanese car (honda, toyota, nissan etc. ) if your looking for a kind of luxury 2000 car, i would go with a acura TL , honda accord, toyota camry or a nissan maxima or altima. if your looking for a sportyer look, try the honda civic si, toyota celica, nissan sentra?
anyways i hope this help you in your choice of shopping.

People buy Japanese cars just because consumer reports say it is a good car. However; the CR survey may over/understate the reliability of certain cars because the people that own them are not homogeneous. ... many people will have a subconscious need to justify their purchase of a Japanese auto over of a domestic one, and they could do this by believing superior reliability is the reason they bought it. Because of cognitive dissonance, they would tend to overlook or downplay anything that would attack this mind-set. We do see many people who vehemently defend Japan's cars' reliability and smear that of others.
This Chrysler is just as good as any rice burner as long as it was maintained.

2005 Chrysler Pacifica 33kmiles for $9,500 is it worth it or are they crap?
I know they're discontinued, but i LOVE them. I had one as a rental car and fell in love with it. However, I have read some reviews and they're either hit or miss... Input pleaseeeee

The biggest concern I would have buying one is the automatic transmissions. I've never had a problem with any of my Chrysler automatics, but many do.
Personally, I would go for it if you aren't too worried about potentially spending here or there on transmission upkeep. They are very nice vehicles.

It known to many mechanics as the Chrysler Pieceofcrapica...there are more misses out there than hits

How to play my iPod through the RCA jack in my Chrysler town & country 2006?
There's no "mode" button, the closest I could find it the CD/DVD/AUX button, but i keep pushing it and it just switches between CD and DVD with no AUX option. Anyone know how to be able to play things through it?

buy an aftermarket radio with Ipod controls built in.
you can get these for less the 100 buck now. and it is the best way to go. RF modulators suck.. you lose the station and they do not sound as good.
