sebring convertable good first car?

Ok so im 15 i have a job with my dad and im saving up for a car. i like the thought of a convertable and i dont want to spend i bunch of money. what do you think of a guy in a sebring. is it a chick car. i mean i dont know i like the way it looks but yeah

Sebring is a fine choice for a first car. However, if you want a convertible, I'd recommend getting a vehicle that was originally designed to be a convertible. I hear the Sebring is awkward in convertible form.

watch them sebrings man just saying the timeing chains break and then the hole motors junk. but if u treat it right u maybe ok

It will be a great guy car, if you have a strong desire to suck lollipops or pacifiers.

My cousin had a Sebring for his first care and it's lasted him all the way to where he is now, half-way through college. It's a great car and a lot of fun to drive. Good handling, I've noticed. That's all I know about it...

I can't believe anyone would say that a Sebring is a good car in any respect. Here is a quote from www.carcomplaints.com:

Personally, I would never allow my child to have a convertable for their first car. They are not nearly as safe as a sedan or other body style. As far as a Sebring goes, its dependablity depends on the year model you are looking to buy. Some of the older models had severe transmission issues (2001-2005). In the newer ones, the problem has been corrected. Other than that, they are really good cars and great first cars, but I would be totally careful in the convertable. There is not any protection in the event of a roll-over. Be careful!

My husband and I have a 2000 Sebring Convertible, and it's not a chick car at all. We drove it on I-10 going to Texas from California, and the speed limit there is 80. 'chick cars' don't go that fast. Also, our engine pretty much purrs. You can hear it loud enough that it sounds cool without being obnoxious.
If it bothers you that it looks like a chick car though, just get some seat covers or decals or something. Ours have red dragons, and I'm hoping to detail the sides and hood with something cool. It's a nice car though, runs like a dream, the convertible top is really nice. Gas isn't too bad, it's not a Prius, but not really a guzzler either. Ours got 30 on the highway.
P.S. I don't recomend silver, for some reasons silver translates to birds as "poop here."

Who does my car sound like I'm driving over train tracks?

I have a 97 Chrysler Sebring (drop top) the check engine light has been on for almost a year. I had no money to fix it? But kept the oil changes current. A tune up would run me $500 because they said the spark plugs are located behind the engine. Well, it's started running like Im driving over train tracks---it's SOOOO Loud and awful sounding. What could this be? Would a tune up fix it?

Yes---it gets louder and clankier as I speed up and softens as I slow down. It sounds like its coming from the front right wheel area...bent axle maybe? I know nothing about t he cars past--Im borrowing it from a friend temp. but I dont want them thinking I've mad their car worst. It was given to me in this shape---but the noise has gotten increasingly louder.

Unfortunately your Sebring has a Neon engine. The only true way to fix that is buy a Chevy or even a Ford. That is as honest as it gets.

describe loud and awful sounding? where is the noise coming from? do you hear it all the time or just when moving? does the noise seem to change when you change the steering wheel? does it get louder when you step on the gas? is it a constant noise? does it ever get quieter? if so when... there could be a million things wrong with it... best bet is to take it to a mechanic and have them do a diagnostic on it and go from there... good luck.

If the sound is coming from the engine like that, no tune up will fix it. When did you get the timing belt replaced? That will make an awful sound if it's ready to go. I could be some internal components ready to go.

Yes it could be a axle or CV Joint and if you dont get it looked at ASAP you and your car could be up close and personal with a power poll or another car and both of you dead.
And leason learned had you had that check engine light checked out right away you may have learned that the ABS speed sensor was out on that part of the axle do to a worn hub bearing and now since you have let it go, that noise is the hub bearing coming apart, now you may have to change the Hub, axle, and hub knuckle. Lots of money

1994 chrysler lebaron convertible reviews please?

im looking to buy a used 1994 chrysler lebaron convertible that i found on craigslist. I called the owner and he said that the water pump needs to be replaced. the other thing wrong with it is it need a front wheel alignment. other then that with 144,000 miles on it it has run great for the 15 years its been in service. i just want some reviews from people that own this car. any problems you have had with it and what i should be looking out for with this model.
it needs an alignment because he replaced the front drivers side ball joint and his mechanic friend aligned it best he could without an aligning machine, he hasnt had any problems for the 7000 miles he drove it, he just knows it needs a proper alignment and its a 3L V6

i had an 89 it ran like a champ the 94 i think has the v6 which have more problems but overall its a good car

What engine is in it. Does it need a alignment for what reason, in a wreck, worn suspention, what?

OK, edward e..., Here's the skinny on the 94 Lebanon. It was quite popular at that time especially with the Mitsubishi 3.0 which was an engine designed with both Mitsubishi and Chrysler at the Diamond Star plant. The bottom end of the engine was almost indestructible. But the heads and water pump was a problem. The valve guide seals wore out around 60 to 80 thousand miles then start the car to smoking. The valve guides were prone to work loose and pop the seals off also. All the engine seals in the front of the engine leaked. The car itself wasn't too bad but the convertible top and windows proved to be a nightmare. The windows were impossible to keep aligned along with the top. Chrysler didn't build the convertible. After the car was built completely it was put on the Chrysler shipping lot and another company would pick it out and purchase it. Then the company cut the top off and modified it into a convertible which was then sold back Chrysler and Chrysler sold it to the public. If it were me, I would take it to a good mechanic and have it looked over good before buying it. And I wouldn't give more than the blue book value for it. It will cost around $400 to $500 to replace the pump, pump supply tube (a must) and timing belt (why not). Plus another $150 for the seals if they are leaking.........Which they probably will be! Some people had good luck with this car and others couldn't get rid of them fast enough. Good luck!

These labarons came with a 3.0 V6 engine. They have a tendency to have alot of automatic transmission failures. The valve guides tend to fail too meaning that the engine will smoke and use alot of oil. So if you have the money for a transmission replacement and valve guide replacement, get it. I personally would get a newer sebring convertible. Best of luck.

Would you buy a Chrysler Sebring Convertible?

I have a 2001 Honda Accord in great shape with 81,000 miles on it. Nothing wrong with it. I just want (not need) a new convertible. Anyone with anything to say on a Sebring, good or bad would be most helpfu! Thanks!

joe is right the timing chains break alot and if they do the hole motor is junk
