Production was suspended in 2008. It probably won't be put back into production. The Denali, Cadillac and BMW, big suv's share the same system.

1995 Chrysler Cirrus is acting up. It has to do with the water pump and her transmission.?

My girlfriends 1995 Chrysler Cirrus is acting up. It's leaking antifreeze which I thought it could be some loose hoses but its leaking too much and around the area of the water pump. As you may have guessed it overheats unless I constantly replace the antifreeze. Besides that fact, her car tends to "slip" out of gear every once in awhile. The car will go into limp mode and be stuck in 2nd gear unless I turn the car off and back on again and sometimes that doesnt even do the trick. I took it to get a diagnosis and they couldnt find codes due to the engine light coming on. Does anyone know if for some reason the water pump would maybe mess with the timing belt which could in turn mess with the cars gears? Also just let me know what you think the problem could be etc etc. Thanks.

I don't know what the deal is with the second gear but I had a 1996 dodge stratus that had its water pump go out. The timing belt snapped (yeah it was belt powered) and I think it ran me roughly 680 to replace the water pump and belts. I never experienced any thing transmission wise, its possible that could be a problem all its own. But i'm no expert.

On this cars the water pump is moved by the timing belt and it has nothing to do with the transmission, you need to replace the water pump by removing the front covers of the engine, where the belts are, replace also the timing belt (need to remove to change the pump), the transmission problem is most likely the TCM (transmission control module-computer), when gets hot start acting up and get worst every time, you won't find codes in most cases, water pump, labor and parts $350-400, in the dealer $800, transmission module $500 parts and labor, good luck

You've two different problems here one being the pump or pump seal or gasket needs replacing and the other is due to the transmission control system having problems.

A code should be coming up due to the transmission going to into the limp mode there are a few different reasons for the limp mode to occur one is the transmission relay on some vehicles it's labelled EATX and it's located in the fuse box that's under the hood. You could try changing the relay and then seeing how it acts but I'd take care of the anti-freeze leaking issue first.

There could be a problem in the wiring going to the transmission relay or wiring going to the transmission control module=TCM.I believe that vehicles TCM has a 60 pin set up and there are ground wires going to two of those 60 pins that ground the TCM and the problem could be these groung wires. Also pin 8 and pin 11 are ignition 12 volt feeds , one is a switchable ignition feed the other is a constant ignition feed. What that means is pin 11 is always live regardless what position the ignition switch is in , pin 8 is only live in the start position.Pins 53 and 57 are the two grounds, pins 15,16,17 should be all live once the engine is started. Pin 56 should be as I recall always live regardless of what position the ignition switch is in.

Those wires and pins , plus that relay are all reasons why the TCM would go into limp mode , plus the speed sensors could cause it to do that too but remember try another relay in it first , plus on those they have several relays with the exact same part number so once it goes into the limp mode try and switch a non vital relay with the transmission relay and see what it does then.

Hope that helps and best of luck.By the way even a bad ground going to the relay can cause this problem too.If you want to give me your phone number and I'll try to talk you through it.
