check out nada.com. they have a section for classic and muscle cars. I've had two of those and I loved them. when it comes to cars like that, the value is usually determined by how badly you want to own it. They aren't making them anymore, and there just arn't a lot of them out there for sale. Good luck.

6 grand to high Maybe 1500, its not a collector item at this point and its just a car

Unless you have one with a big block or Hemi and you plan to to do a Roadrunner clone, 6K is too high

The '72 Satellite Sebring Plus sold new for $3127, another $20 got you a Road Runner with a 400 CI engine under the hood.
Bottom line . . . . how nice is it, how bad do you want it, and what is the price of an original '72 Road Runner today.
It sounds a little high to me, but then again I'm not interested in it
Visit .http://www.allpar.com/model/satellite.html and scroll down about 3/4 of the page, you'll find the above info.
Don't know everything !
Depends on the engine that it came with originally. I suspect the 318, 400-2, and 400-4 were the only engines available. I don't think the Slant Six or the 440 was available for this car.

Have you checked the tie rod ends?
shit_man
You have a severely worn tie-rod end. Get it replaced immediately. If it breaks while you are driving it is a catastrophic failure resulting in total loss of control of the vehicle.
Chris
yes, they are right about the tie rod end but you need to find out if it's the inner or outer. if the outer moves with the wheel (like it's suppose to) then it's the inner. you will need to get a front end alignment after you replace it.
carfreak311
I'd get a free front end done asap , have them show you and explain to you exactly what is the problem sounds like tie rod ends or ball joints or even cv joint.
Hope that helps and best of luck.

like the others said its either your inner or outter tie rods. chyrsler vehicles are prone to tie rods going south very quickly. raise each corner of the vehilce up front and hold the tire at the 3 o'clock and 9 o'clock positions and move back and forth, while having an assistant or visversa look underneath and see if the knuckle is moving and the outer tie rod isn't. if thats the case then you need outtter tie rods. if the outters are moving with the knuckle then you need inners. either way when you replace which ever on is worn you need an alignment, otherwise your steering wheel will be off center and you'll have excessive tire wear.

Definitely a symptom of the inner tie rods gone bad, they're more common to go bad than the outer tie rods on these. When you jack the car up, and move the wheel side to side, look down behind the wheel and the inner tie rod goes towards the back of the engine (You could also have someone else move the wheel and look down behind the engine near the center of the firewall to watch for movement). You will see it moving around on the bolt that holds it in place on the rack and pinion gear when you move the wheel side to side.
Outer tie rod is located right behind the wheel, you will have to look behind the wheel itself to see it moving, but I would lean more towards inner tie rod being bad.
What happens is the bushing in the inner tie rod (where it mounts to the rack) goes bad and falls out. This leaves a space where the bushing used to be, which allows lots of movement for the wheel to move side to side. Vibrates the vehicle like crazy when driving at about 25 or faster, feels like it's gonna shake itself apart.
They do sell a replacement bushing that requires a special tool to install at the Chrysler dealer, but I would not get just a replacement bushing since it's gotten this bad, it's likely damaged the metal. They do offer an aftermarket bushing kit that doesn't require pressing in, but I wouldn't use those at all.
Take it to your favorite trusted shop and have them replace the tie rod ends and then have a front end alignment done afterward to keep from wearing the tires down (changing the tie rods will change the alignment).
I would get this done ASAP! And replace both left and right tie rods, even if they tell you one side looks OK. This will save you money by not having to do another alignment when the other side goes bad.

What your problem is the bushing in the steering tie rod that connects to the rack and pinion is worn out, Try this allpar link yes it says intrepid, but they use the same steering, they do talk about replacing the bushing, How I dont know, the older models, the rubber was injected in the rod. they do sale replacement bushings, just make sure they can be installed. Here is link on how to check and fix

run a magnet over the body and make sure its not full of bondo.

What are you expecting out of it? If you are looking to restore and show the car, you need to know that the engine and tranny are the original ones.If you are just looking for a fun old car, if it all works, I think you should look for a cheaper price.A modified car is really worth very little.
nortonclarkson
here you go
any car in primer needs a real good looking over - generally means the body is shot
roadrunner426440
You should check the engine code because this car does not have the original engine. What if it was a 383 Formula S car? That would be sweet, no?

will jeeps still be made if chrysler goes bankrupt?

Chrysler is bankrupt. Jeep is an iconic brand and I feel strongly that if not Chrysler, then another automaker will take over to continue making Jeeps. We will have a better picture once Chrysler emerges from bankruptcy which could happen any day now.
euroman71
not likely, but another company may make a similar vehicle.
mustboard
Jeep is why Fiat wants to buy Chrysler.
It may be all that survives the collapse of Chrysler.
The Jeep brand has survived the collapse of Bantam, Willy's, Kaiser, AMC and now Chrysler.

I hope so it's the only suv that I like........" It's A Jeep Thing "

Much like many other cars - if the holding company goes bankrupt it will be bought over.

Well if you want me to tell you what your first car should be then you should tell us something about yourself and what you are looking for and how much money you have planned or saved to spend on your first car.
But to give you a good shot in the dark, A Jeep CJ 7 or 93 Jeep Rubicon
