What does the word " DECK " mean on the .....?...  .....over the dashboard word display panel of a 1988 Chrysler New Yorker ? It says different things pertaining to the car and it's needs, like " All systems ok" or " check fluid levels , then it said " the door- DECK was open", along with a small orange light down near the odometer area,but there was no door loose, no hood or trunk open. Where is the DECK in the car ? Doesn't deck mean a porch ? Kind of strange.

4)   The deck lid is the trunk lid. If the deck lid light is coming on, so might the trunk light. So look at it trunk to see if it is loose . Look at the ground wire going to the trunk latch. You might have to pull down the latch to look at the ground switch. They corrode and seize on. To check the trunk lid for free play, just push up and down on the trunk lid you will feel free play there. - Donny

4)   Go to the local garage where they fix cars and talk to the boss - tell him you LOVE to grease things. They can show you how to do that in about 5 minutes. But alas - you're probably too young to work for actual money. Can your parents get you a little job with somebody?

So I meant Chrysler. Sorry..wasn't paying attention. I have a 2008 Sebring with 86,000 miles. I guess my question is, how many miles does a Chrysler usually get before they fall apart?

93 chrysler lebaron only works in reverse?...  its a automatic transmission 6 cylinder 3.0 litre convertable top Le Baron....i was almost home when it seemed like it just popped out of gear and slowed very rapidly...i gave it a little gas and the engine just revved up..i turned it off and restarted it..when i put it in drive it sounded like it went into gear but wouldn't move..same problem..so i put it in reverse and it worked fine.. i have no knowledge of cars whatsoever so any info would be awsome.

1)   Sorry to say it but it sounds like ur transmission went out. - ryan

2)   Sounds like you might have a clutch welded together inside the trans. Does the fluid smell burnt when you pull the dipstick. Have a trans man look at it. Don't know what trans you have in there (3 speed or 4 speed)so I can't give you any other details. Good luck. - Dennis

3)   This is just a wild guess, I am thinking the motor mount broke or trans mount. The engine is off alignment and it has moved the shifter linkage.Look at the engine and see if it looks out of place. - Donny
