I have a Chrysler PT Cruiser 2003. My garmin sat nav will not charge from the cigarette lighter. The Satnav and cable works in other cars. I have also tried changing the blue 15amp fuses as advised by my local chrysler dealer.
Any ideas?

The socket itself is faulty - buy a replacement socket and wire it up.

Does the garmin also have a fuse in the cord? Maybe a larger ampage?

Does anything work in the cigarette lighter?

A fuse is easily eliminated as a suspect with a simple ohmmeter test.

There's nothing magical about 12 volts... I'm thinking there a problem between your battery and the lighter.

bad socket...they often go bad...try some other things in it,,,they are chinese.mexican crap

Hello

You say you have 2 Cigarette lighter Sockets.

First try both Lighters to check they work.

(Rear one may have a On/Off switch in the front to stop kids playing with it.(Like Front only Electric Windows)).
They will burn out but not if they have not been used, Mine are from new in my 97 Vectra and never been used If so go to 4
If Not

1 Check what fuses cover them, You may have them both on the same fuse or separate ones. Even new fuses may be faulty, If possible change it with one you know is working and replace that one with the new one and recheck.

2 Check if other items covered by the fuse/s are working correctly.

3 Have you had a After Market Radio/CD Player fitted. Some people will use the Lighter feed as they need Permanent Feed to the new Radio, New cars have 2 Electrical feeds 1 Red 1 Yellow to store the Code on the Radio

4 Check if you have Cigarette lighters or Cigar lighters. The Cigar ones are bigger in diameter so are a lose fit so will only work if your SatNav Charge Plug is jammed in with some cardboard to keep the contact.

GM was thinking about merging with chysler but they have droped the idea completely. GM is it's own company but chysler is partly owned by the italian auto company Fiat.

of course not! General Motors (GM) and Daimler Chrysler are two completely different companies. There is talk however, of Chrysler being taken over/merging with Fiat.

First off, the ETAX is the controller for the transmission. It usually is located under the hood, on the passenger side inner fender wall.

The EATX is the relay that controls the transmission solenoid pack inside the transmission , it's located I believe inside the fuse box under the hood, also you should be able to find another relay that is non vital that has the exact same part number so you can switch them around as a test.

BOB IS WRONG!!!. EATX is not a relay. It is the TCM. It is located on the driver side of the engine compartment just behind the headlamp assembly. EATX= Electronic Automatic Transmission. People if you don't know what you are talking about please don't answer with BS. Bad answers are worse than no answer at all. At least then people aren't going on bad advice replacing wrong parts costing them money. I know it doesn't cost the person answering anything but it will cost the questioner if they listen to you.

Chrysler Voyager, auto door locking?

I have just bought a Chrysler Voyager that as I drive off, the doors automatically lock. Is there anyway to turn this on and off???? I dont have an owners manual to check up on this. If it is possible to switch ot off and on, how do you do it?? Thanks in advance

you need a bidirectional scan tool

any Chrysler dealer or most diagnostic repairs shops can do it for you

Actually you can with the key fob and the ignition switch. I don't remember the sequence, but I changed mine with the method. Any Chrysler/Dodge dealer will do it for you and shouldn't charge you.

It really is a safety feature and designed for child safety and adult safety too bec believe it or not some ppl have fallen out of vehicles while it was moving etc.
