I was told that the engine cradle on my Chrysler Concorde 2001 is bent?? What should i do?

Question 1
I was told that the engine cradle on my Chrysler Concorde 2001 is bent?? What should i do?...  My car shakes while driving on higher speed and it shakes even bad when applying the brakes.

Answers
1)   There is nothing that can be done except to replace it.

I suggest a used one from a junkyard. - Click here, read profile please

2)   There should be lots of used cradles out there for those cars I'd suggest trying to find a all you can pull for one low price auto wreckers or call around bec any wreckers can order you one from other wreckers or they can at times even order you a brand new lower priced replacement part.

I'd change the cradle asap and I'd be sure to check the whole from end and suspension system , plus I'd have the tires checked , balanced and a 4 wheel alignment done on it and be sure to lube the front end etc well too.

Hope that helps and best of luck.By the way it's also vital to check the all the engine mounts, transmission mount and brakes fully over too. - helpful bob

3)   I would get a second opinion. Unless, of course, the car has experienced an impact to the front that could cause it to get bent, such as in an accident (accident with another car, hitting a curb, bottoming out on something, etc).

The engine cradle is unlikely to just bend, it takes a good bit of force to make one bend.

More likely is that the mounts that hold it in place are worn out, so it isn't being held in place like it should be.

If it is, indeed bent, then your choices are to buy a new one, or buy a used one. Used would be the more economical option, but a used one is going to come from a salvage yard, where most of the vehicles have been wrecked. Whether you buy new or used, this is the time to also buy new mounts for it and have them installed with the cradle. - Mark B

4)   Go to another shop, have them check the brakes and balance the tires. Good luck. - C-Tech

Question 3
wat cost more a 2008 chrysler town and country or a 2008 dodge grand caravan sxt.?...  i really need to know plz help!

Answers
1)   For a used 2008 minivan, it will depend on how its equipped, how many miles are on it, and what condition it is in. either van will be similarly priced used. Expect to pay anywhere from $16,000-24,000. - C-Tech

2)   with the same mileage and equipment i would be prepared to pay a little more for a Chrysler. - badbill1941

3)   Both are made with the same basic uni body frame and drive train options. The difference is what you get with each one. If you get a Grand Caravan with all the options, you can surpass the price of a Town and Country with basic stuff and no extras. If you have the same on both, the Town and Country will be a little more pricey because it is a high end seller and comes with a Little more trim than the Caravan. - Jackolantern

Question 4
What is a 1973 Chrysler Newport worth?...  I'm looking to sell my grandpa's 73 Chrysler Newport. It has a 400 cubic inch 2-barrel V-8 engine. It only has 16,800 miles on it. It hasn't run since it was parked in the garage 15 years ago, but at that time it was running fine. I don't want to bother fixing it up to start again myself, just looking to sell it as-is. The body is rusted through in a couple of spots. Does anyone have an idea of what it's worth or where I can find out? Thanks!
The milage is correct - I know it's hard to believe, but my grandpa was the sole owner and he didn't drive it much at all.

Answers
1)   not much. the mileage may say 16,800, but the odometer probably rolled over at least once already. just because it ran when it was parked doesn't mean it'll run now, especially after 15 years. whoever buys it will probably have to replace the entire fuel system and possibly rebuild the engine, in addition to replacing almost everything else mechanical on the entire car and doing the bodywork.

my estimate? $500. - Skag Baron™

2)   Unfortunately, you didn't say what type of Newport. 2 door, 4 door, A/C, etc. However, It will probably be worth from $2000 to $2600 depending upon type and options.

Try looking it up on "nadaguides.com".

Good luck! - Jim

3)   Well maybe about 2000.00...The engine is worth something...The 400 ci motor is the one racers like to bore and stroke for their drag cars...I,ll buy the motor!!! - Johnny Rotten

1)   Because of Yahoo answerers saying nothing here right now ask a question instead and that IPCC Rrports reccomend putting it in a museum. 350 parts per a million reduction. - darren m

2)   This is probably several different problems.

The display not reading and gages not working could be a problem with the cluster itself, the circuit board on the back, or something else like a bad wire.

The ABS light means it's detected a problem with the ABS system. The ABS system fault won't necessarily affect the normal braking system, so you may not notice anything wrong or different with the brakes under normal circumstances. The ABS system kicks in during an emergency stop to keep the tires from locking up, since it's showing a light, it's detected a problem with the ABS system and may not work properly during an emergency stopping situation.

Same thing with the check engine light (aka "service engine soon" light or "malfunction indicator lamp"), it comes on when the computer gets a signal that's out of range of what it should be. This doesn't necessarily mean it will be something wrong that you can detect yourself or that affects the way you feel it drive. It's a warning to let you know there's possibly something wrong with it and to have it checked out to make sure. The lights main purpose in life is to alert you to problems that you possibly wouldn't otherwise notice without the computer telling you there's a problem. Ignoring it could possibly cause more serious problems farther down the road.

Only way to know for sure what's wrong with the systems is to have them checked out. Often, it's nothing more than a bad sensor, but it can be something more serious. - Mark B

3)   In most cases either one of the fuses that gives the dash cluster assembly voltage is blown or it's a bad ground or bad wiring or bad cluster and the body control module=BCM controls the cluster and gage's and it could be faulty or one of it's fuses or grounds or wire is faulty.

I'd take a meter or 12 volt test probe and test both sides of every fuse inside the fan with the key in the run position both sides of each fuse should light up the probe and if not change the fuse. Also check the fuses under the hood bec one of the main fuses could be blown causing your problem.Note the headlight fuses inside the van won't light up the test probe unless the headlight switch is on.

Hope that helps and best of luck.By the way if you need anymore help or advice feel free to email me. - helpful bob
