Chrystler 300m will not turn over?... I drove the car yesterday and this morning it wouldn't start. Though the starter clicks and all the lights turn on. It's driving me crazy. Any ideas?
Answers
1) The batteries may still be too low - milkiboi
2) All this freezing weather has killed your battery, If it is over 3 or 4 years old, its probably time to replace it. Cold weather is hard on them, especialy after afew years.
I just had to replace My Moms battery for the same reasons.. and the car works fine now.
It is possible that some crud has built up on the teminals, keeping it from charging well. Have the battery tested somewhere, It should be at least 13.5 volts.
If it is very old, you should just get a new one, so it wont keep doing this to you. Have some one do it for you that you trust, so everything will get done correctly. Once a battery stars to fail. its just never gets better. better to spend the 60-80 bucks then be sitting in a dark parkinglot some cold night because your car wont start. either that or get AAA - just visiting
3) change the battery if the lights on the dash blink while turning the key and u hear a ticking noise - Azizam
4) Well check if you have enough fuel or if the fuel meter isn't working. It can be that or maybe it really is your battery.
But I believe that you should try putting some more gasoline just to check. - Entertainment World
5) I had a very similar problem on my 200 Chrysler 300M. I think it is the belt tensioner on the timing belt. It could also be that your timing is out of wack. The belt tensioner on my car got loose and it wasnt the easiest thing to fix. It wasnt that it was hard to fix it was just very hard to get to. - BMono
6) Since you state the starter clicks, I'm taking this to mean you hear either a bunch of clicking when you try to start it, or one click and nothing else, and it does not try to spin the motor over at all. In that case, I would say it's most likely a weak battery.
First, check the cables and connections to make sure they're clean and tight. Loose cables will make it seem like a dead battery, and corroded cables can drain the battery or keep it from charging properly. If there's a lot of corrosion, you can clean it with a water with a little baking soda mixed in, might have to scrub it a bit. They sell cleaner at parts stores, but baking soda is less expensive and is already in many houses, which saves a trip to the store. Might even loosen the cables and clean the posts and the inside of the cable clamp if it's got a lot of build up. If you have a battery post and terminal cleaner, use it, but you can also use a piece of fine grit sandpaper, scotch brite pad, or emory cloth to clean them.
I'd suggest trying to charge the battery first, since the alternator could be bad, which would lead to a drained battery. If the battery won't take a charge, then replace the battery.
If you the battery charges up, drive it to the local parts store, most of them will do a basic charging system check at no charge. That will generally tell you if it's the battery or alternator that needs replacing, and they'll happily offer to sell you the replacement for whichever it needs. (some will even change out the battery for you at no extra charge)
If you charge the battery and get only one click, that could be a loose cable at the starter, a locked up starter, or worse, a locked engine. Check the cables at the starter first, if they feel tight, then you'll have to have it towed to a shop to find out what the problem is. - Mark B
7) If it's a 2.7L, the motor is probably locked up and junk. - p3200tmz
8) The battery should be measuring atleast 12.75v which is just at 75% capacity. I'm guessing it could be due to either a bad crank or camshaft position sensor. Maybe. - enjoi_2k4

Question 2
chrysler sebring car on very low milege and age are relatively ceap why?... chrysler sebring 2008 reg. 20000miles on the clock is about 8000 pounds.BMW with same size of engine and on same age and miles costs around 18000 pounds?!IS CHRYSLER THAT BAD?
Answers
1) CHRYSLER THAT BAD - kelly_f_1999
2) Because your "Chrysler" is in fact a bit of Japanese crap. IE: Mitsubishi Colt ! - Trucky
3) American junk that's why! Even the 300c is a recycled Mercedes. I had alook at one about 6 weeks ago, plenty of car for the money, but did a bit of research - ten foot pole was mentioned! Went instead for a Diesel Mazda 6 for same money & WELL pleased - george d
4) Having had pretty darn good luck with Chrysler products for the last 50 years, I would say go with the Sebring. - badbill1941
5) The BMW is considered a luxury car so you will pay more for it than a Chrysler. - C-Tech
6) No Chrysler is not that bad just a lot more of them out there especially in the US and since your are talking about money in pounds my guess you are some where in GB and since the sebring is imported to Britian by way of US the import taxes are huge, that is why it is more expensive there, other way around here in the US. when buying new, BUT sinced it is a used car the value isnt that great since the parts to maintain it and repair are a lot more expensive and getting into a shop where there would be a qualified mechanic to work on it and have all the computer stuff to take care of any softwear updates and downloads if a computer had to be replaced - rick b
7) The Sebring is a car laden with many, many problems. Also, if you have the 2.7L V6, then you have a defective engine.
Go to www.carcomplaints.com and you will find statements such as the following:
"Since 2001, the most commonly reported problem has been engine failure or timing chain problems with Chrysler's 2.7l engine, all caused by oil sludge. The oil sludge is produced by an apparent design defect with the 2.7-liter engine."
"The Chrysler Sebring has the most problems by a long shot, with well over three times more complaints than any other Chrysler model. The most defect-prone years are from the early 2000s." - Joe

Question 3
I have a 1986 chrysler 5th ave. v8. The tranny doesn't want to shift into 2 gear until it is warmed up. Help?...
Answers
1) replace fluid? truth is dodge always had bad transmissions but most likey dirty oil and filter
a transmission shop or a ny shop can replace fluids easy might help - kelly_f_1999
2) The fluid level may be low. When it warms up the fluid expands and its ok. I suggest checking the fluid level and if low, add fluid and check for a leak. If fluid level is ok, then the filter may be clogging up. Change the filter and fluid. Good luck. - C-Tech
3) An '86 5th Ave?!??! Geez that's pretty cool. You Win! - Yamamoto
4) Sounds like a dirty trans filter. Try changing it, and putting in new fluid. - badbill1941
5) Change the oil and flush the converter and cooling lines, if that dosent work remove the trans pan, if more than half a tablespoon of material in it time to rebuild, and also drop the vavle body and check the vavles and springs for binding and or wear. Also make sure the valve body isnt warped - rick b
6) I would say it's most likely a valve sticking in the valve body, I've seen it happen before.
The thing you'll want to consider is this, would you rather repair the transmission on this car, or go ahead and get a replacement remanufactured unit? Since the car is almost 24 years old, you may just want to spend the money to get a remanufactured unit installed. Or, you may want to get rid of it all together and buy a different car instead of fixing this one. But, I like the 5th avenues and would probably get a remanufactured unit installed if it was my car, unless it had a lot of other problems that would keep me from wanting to fix it up.
The Chrysler reman will probably run about $1500 to $2000, but you should be able to get one for your car for around $1000 or less (prices are plus labor, of course).
Did a quick search and found this site that has one for $660 with a 1 year unlimited miles warranty (they give the option to buy longer warranties): http://info.automotix.net/transmissions/search.html?make=chrysler&model=5th_avenue&year=1986 However, I cannot vouch for them, as I've had no experience with them or their products. Plus, you'll have to add shipping, which will probably be around $200 unless you live near the KC area and can pick it up yourself. You could also call around and search for others closer to you that might have similar prices.
A valve body will probably cost around a couple hundred or more, plus labor. - Mark B

Question 4
my oil light comes on/2000 chrysler concorde?... I have just noticed that my oil light comes on when i slow down to stop and when i stop. I can park it and rev the engine and it goes off. Ive checked the oil and it wasnt low. what the heck could be causing this?
Answers
1) It is probably the oil sending-unit (oil pump) you need to have it checked asap or you could seize your engine. It could possibly be the sensor, but it sounds more like the pump. - mama_sayed
2) Could be worn oil pump or worn main rod berrings. - Sarah E
3) It's either a bad oil sender switch, or eng has worn internal parts, big dollar labor parts. - done wrenching
4) Unscrew the sending unit, and screw in an oil pressure Gage. If the pressure is up to snuff, hopefully it is just the sending unit. Otherwise, it sounds like you may have some lower end engine problems - badbill1941
5) The oil pressure sending unit is bad or needs to be modified. There is a Chrysler technical service bulletin related to this. It should cost less than $100 to replace or repair. Good luck. - C-Tech
6) possible an oil leak. - bigestpimpin
