It will make your car alarm sound.

I accidentally pushed mine and it is the alarm. Just lock the doors and the alarm will quit, try it when you don't mind the noise.
I just got mine in December and love it. I got a new 2007 that was leftover so still new Sebring Limited. First new vehicle since 97 amazing all the gadgets.
shipper1948
If someone walks up on you and you feel like they may want to hurt you just push the button and your alarm will go off ,hopefully someone would see that you need help or it will cause the person to run off.
Handyman
it just starts the alarm going, its good if some kids are by your car at the park and are getting too close.
jdub
it sets off the car alarm ...right then....
useful to foil a mugger, if you are standing next to the car
useful to find your car..in walmarts parking lot
useful to warn your neighbor.. when he backs up too close to your car...
useful when you are in a restaurant, and see someone about to door-ding your car in the parking lot...

Panic is used in any emergency requiring help, like a mugging or purse snatching. The alarm goes off and the perpetrator runs off to avoid being seen.

When you press that button, it will honk the horn and flash the lights immediately (as long as you're within the signal range).
The theory behind it is to bring attention to the car's area if you feel unsafe from an undesirable person coming up to you. This will draw attention to the vehicle and scare off the thug. That's the original intention for the button.
The reality is that is makes a great car locator in a crowded parking lot when you forgot where you parked.
Very few people pay any attention to car alarms going off, since they do so all the time. In a crowded parking lot, not many people will pay any attention since they're used all the time to locate a vehicle. At best, they may look in that direction, but that's about all.
Of course, anything and everything that draws attention to you helps when you're feeling like you're in danger.

It's a real fun feature to use when you see your 17 year old son outside getting ready to make out with his girlfriend on a romantic evening.

Chrysler going under bankruptcy, BAD OR GOOD?
my dad works for chrysler and i just heard they are going under bankruptcy, is that bad for my dad?? He is a mechanic. How bad is it?

That's bad because more than likely he will lose his job :(
if u aint first ur last
Well basically the reason why Obama didn't give them the cash bail out is due to them not restructuring their business enough. So in order for this to take place the government is forcing them into bankruptcy if so that the company will then have to totally restructure their whole basic business. That will cause them to be forced to reduce the amount of dealerships they have and also cut some models and create new models for economically suitable.I believe that this is a government playing a game of cards with these auto companies forcing them to reduce major money loosing spending and structuring habits..
Yes several people will end up loosing jobs from the factory workers to the sales ppl and others going up and down the latter but your dad has one thing in his favour that's the fact that good experienced mechanics are hard to come by and in high demand regardless.
Try not to worry too much don't worry bec ppl with skills like he has are in a much better boat then the basic factory worker etc.
Hope that helps and best of luck.By the way if you're from the USA which I think you are your president has promised to have some business loan applications be easier and more geared to help the borrowers so maybe your dad can simply open his own shop.
helpful bob
its to early to tell, if they can find a way to pull themselves out of the hole, we may still be ok

Aside from your dad losing his job, so will thousands of others too directly employed by Chrysler, not to mention the dozens of suppliers and contractors that now do business with them.
Any automaker going under is a significant economic headache.

Bankruptcy protection simply means that they are given a break from having to pay out the money that has been eating their shorts in the first place (Unions and their constant demands for more money and less output, pension plans for a majority of people who don't deserve them because they weren't there long enough to be vested in them, etc.)
So from a business case, it's really the only prayer the US auto industry has left in order to really get competitive on a cost level with the world.

If they do not restructure and merge with Fiat by April 30, 2009 they will be forced into bankruptcy and liquidate their assets. That basically means they have to sell everything they own to pay their debtors. If they happen to sell one of their brands (Chrysler Jeep Dodge) to another manufacturer it will mean that the brand will stay in business, but does not mean that your dealership will still be able to sell that brand. If that happens that will be very bad for your father. It also depends if the dealership he works for changes to another brand.

is a chrysler sebring a good car?

no.

Not really... Two of the best manufacturers are Toyota and Honda. I'd try to go with one of those. Nice sturdy cars that last a life time. My girlfriend's family is still driving their 1992 Toyota Tercel with minimum work on it.

seems OK

This is a very horrible car, mechanical wise. Yes it is very comfortable but they have HORRIBLE transmission problems, from what i've seen and worked on. Like the previous people said, but a Japanese manufactured vehicle. A Toyota Camry will be your best bet.

Absolutely Not. It has been rated the worst reliable car several years in a row.

It's not.

What's going to happen to Chrysler?
I saw on the news that they could file for bankruptcy as early as next week. What will/might happen?

They'll either reorganize (if Fiat merges with them as is hoped) or they will go out of business... (((kicking myself in the butt for buying a Pacifica last year)))
EDIT: Yes, I know it has Mercedes bones, that was one reason we bought it (heehee) and it really is a good car - I just worry about service and the like should it go under. Hopefully things will all work out & they'll restructure.
taximomuv3
They'll restructure during bankruptcy and will still be around.
done wrenching
To the lady kicking herself for purchasing a Pacifica, it has Mercedes bones, I would not let the Chrysler name plate and its current troubles diminish a good decision. I would say that the Pacifica is still to this day a good decision, particularly if you plan to keep the car.
With a high degree of certainty, Chrysler will not go under. Cerebus owns Chrysler lock stock and barrel, they are an equity group, Hank Paulson, former Fed Treasury Secretary, Goldman Sachs alum is with this outfit. If Chrysler sinks Cerebus sinks, which will further damage our financial market. It is for this reason, Chrysler fits in the unwanted category of being to big to allow collapse.
My point here, is that U.S. taxpayer must be in it to win it for the manufacturing base and the financial equity firm's survival.
The other reason is that it cuts into the manufacturing capacity of the U.S. military. Namely the Abrams M1 tank, it is a Chrysler product. At least it has been. Several high profile military weapons are manufactured from Chrysler and General Motors. Case in point the Presidential motorcade is General Motors. While it is normal in appearance, its code name is Beast. Due to it's formidable and robust capabilities to protect the President here and abroad.
Consider this hypothetical scenario. If the U.S. were to lose a tank to wear and tear of war, Chrysler folds, who builds another? The civilian automakers continue to have a role in military re-supply of parts, too.
It is for this exact reason, the U.S. cannot afford to have our automotive manufacturing prowess go down the tubes. Another very powerful and convincing reason is their is no replacement in the economic sphere for another economic engine that can help drive the economy much sooner than later. Certainly, it is a matter of repair and reconfiguration that will take shape. As a retired military service member, I can tell you we need Chrysler, Ford and GM to be alright.
Will things change? Absolutely, this is the age we live in. However, I would not lose hope in this regard and know that having a bit of faith will not hurt matters.
On a personal note, we are all facing the same type dilemma, nevertheless, we are going to be around too. Our hair may have become a little grayer, or baldness may be the new style because we have rubbed our hair out, but tomorrow is another day to get it right. I say, keep your eyes open, manage what you have in front of you, don't worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will take care of itself.
I am certain, that is exactly what will happen.
Grace.

they need to stop buying parts that are low price and quality they use to make their cars and start maufacturing car that are what people want and can fix if they break. some of the cars chrysler and gm designed makes me wonder why they didnt put more thought and effort into it. there needs to be better style and design. its not impossable i just cant see why they dont do it. they push every thing so tight under the hood and leave no space and no one wants to fix them and if something simple like a fan belt breaks it cant be fixed it has to be towed. people get sick of things and imports are less stress. what ever happened to the cars chysler made when i was glad i bought one instead of these poorly designed things they make now. i could design a car better than them

how to turn on the light in chrysler sebring?
because i didn't find any button in the car to turn on the light unless i open the door of car...it's frustrated~~

Mine has a little black button next to the light on each side.
shipper1948
I cant remember the exact way but this could help.
I pretty sure the headlight for the car turn on with knob thingy to the left of the steering wheel. If so that would turn the interior lights on. Either buy pushing in, twisting it, etc.
If i was wrong just look in the manual.
azn_ryan
look for the roll button to the right of the headlamp switch.
Steve
Look for the dimmer switch that controls the brightness of your dash lights. Turning the dial one way turns on the lights, turning it the opposite way keeps all lights off in the car, even with the doors open.
Duh!!!
