Is Chrysler under the Dodge name? confused?

Is Chrysler under the Dodge name? confused?...  Is Chrysler under the Dodge name...or is Dodge under the Chrysler name?

1)   Dodge is under the Chrysler name Plymouth also used to be under the chrysler name. - 74DUSTER

2)   Chrysler is the parent company.
Dodge, Plymouth, and Jeep are other cheaper brands of Chrysler.

3)   Way back in the late 20s' 2 brothers named Dodge made pick ups. Chrysler liked their products and bought them out but kept them on as design engineers. Chrysler bought American Motors in the late 80s' so they could own Jeep. - Jackolantern

4)   Dodge is a Chrysler product. Chrysler bought Renault who owned Jeep. Chrysler really just wanted Jeep and split the company then dumped Renault a few year's later. This was in the 1980's.

BTW, the new Chrysler is now owned by Fiat who also owns Lamborghini. Fiat is splitting Dodge trucks into there own "nitche" company like it was in the beginning. In other words, you might be seeing Dodge Truck dealerships where they only sell trucks at that location.
There also phaseing out all Dodge and Chrysler's current small cars and replacing them with rebadged Fiat products. Fiat currently does not sell any products in the United States. They are still going to save/make the Challenger, Charger and Viper as you know them.
Charger's are making money as Police and rental car's. They just sent over 50 Hemi Charger Police car's to the Iraqi government a few months ago for example.

What's wierd is there going to stop making Dodge Caravan's and they will only be availible as Chrysler Town and Country's now. It's strange because even though there basically the same vehicle, historically the Dodge version has always outsold the Chrysler version. - Racer X

Question 2
Can I convert an automatic transmission to a manual in a 2004 pt cruiser?...  Is it hard to do?

1)   You could, but it would be a ton of work. The PT has the same drive train as the Neon, so to start, find a junked Neon with a decent manual tranny, and start swapping parts.... Don't forget the clutch pedal assembly for under the dash.... - rick29148

Question 3
I have no heat in minivan.?...  I have a 2001 Town and Country. The fan runs but no heat comes out. Do I have a problem with my heater core, or is it something else?

1)   Sounds like it's your heater core. Before you go about replacing that, check the fuse for the heater core. You should be able to find a fuse box diagram either online or in a service manual. It could be faulty wiring too, but it's unlikely. Your service manual should contain instructions on how to test whether or not your heater core functions.

Check the fuse, if it isn't blown, just take it in. - Dr. Bobo

2)   Replace your thermostat - linden

3)   let engine run to normal operating temperature,touch heater hoses going thru firewall to see if hot,if so that rules out thermostat,there is no fuse for the heater core,check the floorboard for water leak if none ,core is ok,the bottom radiator hose has a spring inside,when cool enough squeeze with a rag in hand,if spongy feeling the spring has rusted and collapsed,forming a vacuum not allowing water to circulate,could cause heater core to burst,replace,refill radiator/reservoir with proper mix antifreeze/water - ramcharger

4)   I'm going to go in a different direction than everyone else here. I'd be looking at the blend door control this is a door that slides from one side to another, it controls how much air goes thru the heater core and how much is bypassed. if it is stuck or the control for it is broken you may not be getting air directed thru the heater core, thus no warm air enters the passenger compartment. You already stated the bowler runs, so ignore the Fuse suggestion. check you heater hoses to e sure they BOTH are getting warm, if they are... I'd be looking into the blend door for sure. - jnc623

do you really need a original oil sensor for Chrysler Seberin convertible?...

1)   You can use an aftermarket as long as it is made to factory values. - badbill1941

2)   they,ll out last after market ones,but no you can use after market ones as long as you stay with a good brand of them,some of the cheaper made ones will cause problems though,good luck. - dodge man

Question 5
Chrysler Concorde LXI 2002 model, would snow tires help?...  I'm thinking of putting on snow tires on the Concorde in hopes it'll be better to drive in the wintertime, would this help or be a waste of money?

3)   No, snow tires on a front wheel drive car is pointless and a waste of money, what you need is cable type chains or (if still made) spikes spyder's. Chains wont work either, you need something narrow enough so contact with your struts wont happen - rick b

4)   rick b is right out to lunch! - I have a toyota echo with snow tires - it is fantastic in snow and on ice. my tires are studded and they are noisy on bare pavement - but do give Ultimate traction. - Kevi
