Is PT Cruiser 2001 Limited worth buying?... Hello all, I've always been attracted to retro things - whilst I liked Mini Cooper once upon a time, I have shifted my attention to the now-discontinued PT Cruiser. There is one now for sale where I live in Australia with the following specs: 2001 PT Cruiser Limited, 97,000kms (60,273 miles) for AUD10,500. Low kilometre compared to the size of the car. My heart tells me to go buy it as I have been looking for one - but my head has been feebly trying to put a brake. My thinking is that if I end up disliking how the car runs in, say 2 years, at least the resell will still be relatively good considering the low mileage in the first place.
I would appreciate your opinions or points that I should consider. Should I go and buy it anyway?

1) check the owners manual for SUGGESTED maintenance schedule at various miles on the odometer.
100,000: change the timing belt. My mechanic was busy. Scheduled two weeks beyond reaching the 100,000 miles point. The timing belt broke at 104,000 miles. ($$$)

3) Leave it alone. I bought mine a 2002, 3 years ago with about 72000 miles on it. Six months later after the warranty expired, the tranny went out. (common on pt's), after that it needed a fan, brakes, alt. and starter all in a period of 6 months. I just had to put a timing belt in as it's about to hit 100,000 miles (there suppose to last 95,000 miles) all this at a cost of about $6500, on top of what I paid for it. And this car passed CarFax.with flying colors. Beware. - mokimoto

Chrysler TC by Maserati?... Found a 1991 Chrysler TC in my area for sale for $2,000 its got only 51k and everything I've read has said its great or an epic fail no middle ground. Just wondering if anyone had one or knew some one who did and if this would be a smart buy? Looking for a reliable commuter that's fun to drive.

1) If you're looking for a "reliable commuter" this is not it. These cars use different parts than standard Chryslers of the time and very few were made. Keeping it working could be nightmare. - D

What do you think of the Chrysler town and country?... We are looking at a 2009 Chrysler town and country touring. We test drove it and currently have it on hold, but our deposit is refundable so we can change our minds if we really want. The van seemed nice to us. It has 30,000 miles and they are asking $16,988. We have looked at quite a few minivans and were actually planning on getting a toyota sienna, but this van seemed like a good deal compared to all the sienna's that we have found. We would have liked for it to have the built in dvd players, but that is really the only complaint I have with it. We can always add that later if we want. If you have had one or know anything about them I would love to hear your thoughts. Thanks.
The van is from auction direct. They are a dealer sorta but the salesmen aren't paid on commission. They take the KBB price and add $400 I think.

Get a carfax. Have you driven and inspected it? Do you get any type of warranty? Take it to an independent mechanic and have it checked (well worth the money). If they won't let you take it then pass on it. Hint... never fall in love with a vehicle. look at it as a vehicle to get you from A to B safely and dependently. - rr
2) If you are purchasing it in Ontario, ask for a sellers package. This will give you the last three owners. You can contact anyone of them to see what kind of maintenance was done. This vehicle was most likely a lease car, usually they are well taken care of. Lease cars get lots of exercises. If you want to be safe ask if you can take it to your mechanic to do a look over. - Donny

2) If you're talking about a "remote start", you don't have to leave the car in the ignition, but you DO have to put the key in before you get going, to unlock the steering column. This is available LOTS of places, and is adaptable to nearly any car, and is relatively cheap.
But what I THINK you want is a "keyless ignition/pushstart" where you don't need the key at all. This is a more extensive modification, and will likely end up making your car much less "theft resistant", due to rewiring and bypassing security features. - Scott
